MM,

What have you decided to do about the speedometer?

I offered to buy one of these tanks from a guy on here when he finished  installing a Sportster tank on his bobber. I am looking forward to a bigger tank.

You are doing all the thinking to make this work so I thank you.

Kenny

I got a Speedometer off Ebay .   I would have just used the GPS for my speed but :
The neutral light
The bright indicator
The turn indicator

so I got one of the after market ones with a neat little column of three lights , green , blue , orange .   The speedometer is in metric but a quick multiply by (.6) is so easy ....
25 k = 15
50 k = 30
100 k = 60
will be second nature in a week !

Versey put me on to a cable ... that was the hard part !  Smiley

I hope to be sanding and putting bondo in the imperfections tomorrow evening ?    The biggest ding is about like a BB but not as deep. Cool

MM,

I will have to get a hold of Verslagen and get a speedometer cable. I want to arrange to get a cam chain adjuster modified so I need to contact him any way.

I grabbed the one listed in partzilla mentioned in this thread.  It's a little long but I just snaked it around a bit and it works fine.

I picked up a speedo from Dime City: http://www.dimecitycycles.com/2-5-inch-chrome-mini-speedometer-with-black-fac...

This is the cable I got to do the speedometer with ... haven't put it on yet but is long (if not a little too long) enough .

New Genuine Suzuki Tachometer Cable 72-77 GT250, GT750 Lemans Hustler Tach #V28

I'll mount it soon and find-out more .

I put the speedometer on and hooked up the cable ... it could be 4" shorter , but it will work just fine.   I mounted the speedometer on the bottom side of the handlebar riser by drilling and tapping under the handlebars all the way through.   Then putting a bolt from the bottom.

Here is the coil mounted on the new metal piece .   Its in the frame hole.

There is the old tank nub and the new tank rubber .

I took a bike ride  to Lowes today and found some 18/7-conductor wire to extend the  dash wires with .  Seven conductors in a neat casing , looks like factory equipment  Wink , $0.60 a foot .    I wore chaps and took the long way home (60 mile joy ride).    Smiley

And on the other side is where the blinker control and that other thing landed.   What is that other thing anyway ?

MM,

If there is a picture of the speedometer I cannot see it.

Did the gas cap from the S40 tank fit the new tank?

There's no problem that a full tank of gas and a sunny day can't fix!

Gas cap came with the tank but no key ... so now it opens with any key  Wink

I've got the speedometer to look forward to tomorrow , seems somebody took a bike ride today instead of hurrying back to the shop !  Roll Eyes

The Savage cap is too small dia.  , but a new lock set for the GZ250 are only $40.oo on ebay .
