Anybody else thought of having a meet somewhere in the middle of the country ,  ride for a day or two , then different way home ?

Huh

Like ... Pike's Peak  one year  .... GrandCanyon next year .... Rt. 66 next ... etc... ?

MM, you are talking like a 3-4 day "short week" each way just to get to some of these places.   Why don't you pick some place neat that is a lot closer to the East Coast?

This is the tool to use to check the general weather patterns for an area code.   To use it you change the area code in the search bar which changes the database it pulls from.

http://www.usa.com/28716-nc-weather.htm

May and September are the early and late months for the NC mountains that have "moderate temperatures" (low in 50's and highs near 80).  This is the earliest/latest comfortable camping weather.

I sure would miss OldFeller .   Summer is long and  there are lots of US.

Mabe two rides this summer ????

No hurry so , befor we start a new topic I need to bounce it off the wife ( at just the right time ) Wink .

But Lancer you got a big enough back yard and nice enough neighbors  to put up with a camp-out . ??

OK, you guys got your planning yet to do .....   Lancer has to tell you when to show up and all that.

Needs to give you an address to set your Garmins for .....

19 hours on the interstate (2 days of riding each way)  you'll be beat to death by the time you arrive and by the time you get back home, way way way past dead, well decomposed actually  ....

Hey MM, this is the same crew that rebelled & wanted to go home and take a nap after only 4 hours of chasing after you.

Think of it, four (4) solid days going lump .... lump .... lump.... lump .... lump.... lump .... lump.... lump .... lump.... lump .... lump.... lump .... lump.... lump .... lump.... lump .... lump.... lump .... lump.... lump .... lump.... lump .... lump.... lump .... lump.... lump .... lump.... lump .... lump down good ol' I-20.

Undecided

(my back hurts just thinking about it)

Hey, don't forget to invite all the RYCA guys to ride along with you  !!!

Cheesy

MM, I'm moving to 70 acres that backs up to the N Canadian river.
Places to camp ???  I do believe you can find a dozen or so.
Wanna fish ?  Oh yea.
Stick your head out the tent in the morning and watch the deer.
There is a perfect spot just off the river to set up a "camp city" that's about 1-2 acres.

When I get home I will post some pics from the MAC.

If you insane people are going to do this, I bet there is going to be a lot of bike trucking going on.

Dave is coming from Tennessee (if he is coming) so I bet I could get a truck ride with him if he decides to go.

Main issue for me will be taking a whole long week + off as we are very very low manned (budget crunch) at my job right now and are not even letting folks off for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Years Eve this year.   Manditory, I have to work.

But the rest of you guys have yourselves a blast trout fishing and camping and riding about -- take lots of pictures.

There are LOTS of coyotes, some wildcats (no, not house cats on the run variety), raccoon , fox, skunk and other assorted critters that may mess with you in the night.  It's pretty quiet though and at night no city lights to interfer with seeing billions of stars.
One caution is to stay out of the quick sand.  It's better for all concerned that way. Smiley

Building the shop is the first order of business upon arrival.
We are starting from scratch here so the timeline for getting stuff done is a bit fluid.  A lot depends on what part of the property I end up building on.

My idea of a shop building is a 30x50 minimum. It would prefer 40x60
And it will have a full function bathroom or 2.

Lancer I bet if you play it right you could get a "barn raisin'" party with the crew here. But it sounds like you better keep a close eye on the "party" part Wink

Yea, I don't know if much of any work would get done.
Crazed Savage riders running into the woods and getting all tangled up in a briar patch, or sooting across the pasture and their front wheel disappearing in a gofer hole and then going AIRBORNE, or trying to cross a swollen creek and ending up in the river downstream...there's just no telling what might happen.
Of course there are the ROCKS too.  The wooded areas are mostly that way because of the rocks, some are car size while others are merely 5-10 ton paperweights.  Lots of rocks.  Thousands of tons worth.  I could build everything out of rock if I wanted to deal with the heavy lifting.  I will probably build the house foundation with them.

So host this summer's (2013) at my place, although it's just a piddly 54 acres.... 2 of which is the stocked fishing/swimming/boating hole (yep, pond is 2 acres). Picnic area, grilles, horse shoe pit, camping spots...

Wild hogs, deer, coyotes, otters, ospreys, owls...

Word of warning, it IS a semi-legal naturist park... so there might be a few scantily (or less) clad young ladies floating around... Roll Eyes
