Hey, fellow "Tailers," I may have an option for our gathering in 2013.  I'm buying some land in the area of Black Mountain, NC, just east of Asheville.  We could very likely do some semi-primitive camping there by next spring or summer.

I'd have to find out about firearms rules. It's in a sparsely populated "still-being-developed-ment." One attraction is that it is on Hwy 9 which is a twisty road from Black Mtn to Lake Lure.  Lots of good riding in the Lake Lure area.

Yup, I like that road too.

Did you ever fix your output shaft?    We had a couple of guys mention since then that they have welded their sprocket & nut to the shaft, mainly because the full real repair is uneconomically feasible and they had nothing to lose by doing the weld.   Apparently it works until the weld joint or the shaft itself fails, then you are no worse off than before.

That's funny, gearing was an "off topic" in the Dragon thread got cleaned up by Verslaggy.

<hee hee>        off topic, he thinks.  Little does he know -- Serenity could show up at the Dragon with his tool box planning to tear his gearcase down and put it back together one night over a pizza and a six pack of beer.

And he'd do it, too.

DeJourneau's that he picked up at the same late night quick pick down the mountain where he goes to make all those late night beer runs (and he stops and calls his wife while leaning over the railing at the tippy top edge of the drop off .....)

darn right, I'd do it!  What's the fun of having a motorcycle if you can't take it apart and put it back together! Wink

Well, it is Christmas time again, my my the months just roll by when you aren't paying any attention.    If we are gonna book somewhere we need to be about doing it, or it won't be there when we want it.

Dave and I are still up for a trip, so we will have one this year.   What when and where are still pretty much up in the air.

If you've got ideas, toss them out on the table -- let's hear what ya got.

When are you leaving?     We could do a spring fall scenario again, catch you in the spring, catch the leaf lovin' sissies in the fall.

Wink

hey, I like that -- go twice and avoid that nasty hot hot summer nonsense

Been going through stuff for a while now trying to thin it all out...too much stuff.
We are throwing junk out, giving away good usable stuff to a thrift store and will be selling things with significant value at the big flea market down the road in Jan & Feb, with serious packing in Feb for a Mar move to OK.
No time for anything but an occasional short ride around the lake here.
I wish there was more time but tis not.   Sad

Once in OK there will be a flurry of building activity to get set up with a living space/storage/shop building for us, our stuff, tools and building material before next winter sets in, and then to start building a proper cedar timber house.  Not much of any play time for the next year.
