If your oil ain't getting dirty, it ain't doing its job.(provided you're actually running your engine lol)

And your proof for that statement?

In 4000 miles the oil wasn't dirty,It seem like most people on here don'
t ever use a premium oil so they don't know the difference.

It don't matter what kind of oil you use, or what kind of engine you have. It's mechanics 101 and one of the first things a tech is taught. If your oil ain't getting dirty, it ain't doing its job.

I don't feel like looking for the post, but it seems to me when Verslagen ran his oil tests he said Klotz got dirty just as fast as any other oil, and ran through his oil-using engine just as fast as any other oil. And it made the engine run hotter than Rotella T6.

Of course, Bill has run his own comparative tests. But he hasn't gotten around to posting the results.

I've been warned not to mess with Bill and his Klotz. Serious business.

Just received my oil filter order from Motorcycle Superstore yesterday.  They charged $3.99 a piece for HiFlo filters (HF137) SKU 87703.  This probably isn't the very cheapest price for these filters but I've always had decent luck dealing with this company in the past.

Maybe I'll install a Frantz toilet paper filter ?
Or maybe a bipass spin-on conversion ? Could be an oil cooler also ?
Then maybe I would change the filter often-er  ?

Instead of changing your oil, you change your filter element
(which costs about as much as two quarts of oil)_

..... and then you add most of a quart to make up what you lost when you changed out the soggy filter element.

Get in touch with Kim out in Washington, tell her we need a board "Bent " run. They usually have a couple thousand between the shelf boxes and the attic overflow. Way back to when Emgo filters came in yellow boxes.

If the oil comes out filthy, I change the filter. If it comes out a light brown or paler I reuse the filter without disturbing the filter cavity.

I wish it took a spin on filter, a Kawaski 800 filter costs $3.95 at Wal-mart, and that also fits several years of 1500/1600 cc motors. Why Slopokey in its infinite lack of wisdom couldn't screw up and get just one thing right... The rest of the cruiser line takes a spin-on, they just had to have one oddball out..

Thanks but I have a couple of spares and they don't burn out often.  If they did, I'd convert to LEDs.  I might do that anyway at some point.

Apparently you guys never buy groceries, or you wouldn't be so concerned over oil filters.  Grin
