Awesome shop experience...

Proline KTM, Loganville, GA, on HWY 78.

A friend recommended a shop here in Atlanta, so I ordered a new rear tire and took it in because I needed the tube replaced (leaking at the stem) and it just made sense to put a new tire on at the same time.

The mechanic tried to save me some bread by checking the tube, which he swears was ok, so he just swapped the tire.  Also did a thorough inspection and gave me a pretty detailed list of stuff to fix, in order of need.

Go to load the bike and the tube was leaking at the stem just like last time.  The mechanic immediately offered to redo the job after hours, obviously for no cost.  Long story short, the owner, Jim, is not only going to give me a tube, but while they have the wheel off on their dime, they're throwing in a rear brake job for the wholesale cost of the shoes.

And he not only treated me decent, he treated his poor mechanic likewise.

Anything that's over my head, that's the place I'm taking my bike from here on out.  Great guys, been around for a long time.  The specialise in motocross stuff, but work on all sorts of metrics.

While the ship times tend to be slightly slower than J&P, CrotchRocket.com also has the Suzuki parts fiche but often beats the prices of BikeBandit, J&P, and RonAyers.

Well, actually I had to go back and edit my post...had a brain fart because J&P is all aftermarket.  Still, their shipping is awesome.

Haven't tried CrotchRocket.com.  Maybe if it was called Cruiser.com...Tongue

In a price comparison with Ron Ayers, I did find cheaper OEM prices at PowerSportsPro.com

Power Sports Pro

So you bought from these guys before? The price on stock air filer is a lot cheaper than the dealer I go too. Thinking about some bags, I just don't want to over do it. Already got a scratched up windshield.  Undecided

CrotchRocket.com (JT Motorsports)
Prices: Good
Shipping Cost: good
Shipping Time: kinda slow

BikeBandit.com
Prices: fair to good
Shipping cost: good
Shipping time: good

On the OEM Suzuki parts, CrotchRocket usually beats BikeBandit by a fair bit.  But for tires, BikeBandit was way cheaper ($33) than CrotchRocket ($55) for the exact same tire for my Nighthawk.  Dunno how BB compares to TiresUnlimited or the rest.

Also, at least for the carb parts for my '87, the fiche at CrotchRocket is more right than the one at BikeBandit.

Got my stuff, looks like the right stuff. Good price, slow shipping. Savings was worth the wait.

www.motorcyclesuperstore.com
Prices: fair to Good
Shipping cost: Good
Shipping time: TERRIBLE

Sold me something they didn't have in stock, but didn't notify me.  Took them over a week to get it themselves and then another week to get it to me.  Customer service agent I talked to on the phone could absolutely care less.

www.bikebandit.com
Prices: fair to Good
Shipping cost: Good
Shipping time: Good

I buy all my OEM parts from them.  Also go there when I want to see schematics.

Okay guys, I've got a horror story to tell.  This is about Phat Performance Parts.  My fiance ordered a new braided clutch cable for her V-Star Classic.  When we went to install it, the thing was 3 inches too short!  So we called Motion Pro (because it's a Motion Pro part) and they said the cable we were sold is for a V-Star Custom, not a Classic.

After SEVERAL calls to Phat Performance, we finally got a hold of the "cabling guy" and he admitted that the web site was wrong and told her that he'd send her a return envelope.  Well the envelope never came.  When she called today they claimed that no one would have said that.  They told her to email their returns department and they'd take care of it.

Well right after she got off the phone we checked the site and THEY CHANGED THE DESCRIPTION RIGHT AFTER SHE HUNG UP THE PHONE!  Now that is pretty lame.  She'll probably never get the right cable but that's okay, we've learned a lesson.  Beware any of you considering dealing with this company.  If they make a mistake, you are in for a ride.

Iron Horse Helmets

Company: Iron horse Helmets.
Placed an order with them on July 30 (it's now August 11) and haven't received it yet. I called them last week and was told that one item was out of stock. I told the customer service rep. that they could have at least told me and shipped the other items. She replied "Oh, you want us to ship them?" "Well, yeah that sounds like a good idea." Called them again today and was told "Well, they should have shipped." Should have shipped? I found what I was looking for somewhere else.

I've used this company before just to buy a couple of helmet stickers, and they arrived no problem. They seemed pretty apathetic this time though.

Helmets ect.:
Placed order on Monday, arrived nicely packed, and just as described on Thursday.

Additional: One item was too small, and required an exchange. They sent back the right size, but a different style glove. They won't respond to e-mails. There are too many good places to shop, so I won't be buying anything else here.

Leather up

I've placed several orders from leatherup.com, and have yet to have a problem with them. Just received a full face helmet and leather gauntlet gloves ($15) of very good quality. They gave me a code for 10% off of all future purchases also. Just ordered a pair of leather pants with a 15% labor day discount which should be here friday. With discount, cost was $71.00 w/shipping. Link to pants: http://www.leatherup.com/p/Leather-Chaps--pants/Classic-Fitted-biker-motorcyc...

Scooter Shop: www.scootershop.com

Yeah, it's main target is Scooters, not motorcycles.  I got my Camos bluetooth from them, and they sell other things that make the site worth a visit.
The prices aren't "fantastic", but no worse than other places.
What makes them stand out is customer service.  They really care about you being happy with your purchase!

leathers to boot

Online store: Leathers to Boot.
Positive experience buying this jacket as a gift http://www.leatherstoboot.com/fmclascstmol.html.

Thier online price was $119.99, but I found the same jacket for $85.00 at another online store that I didn't feel comfortable buying from. Leathers to Boot matched the price of $85.00.

I first sent them an e-mail letting them know that I found the same item online for cheaper. They replied, saying that if I wanted to make the purchase, add the item into the cart, and leave a note with the link to the cheaper item in the comments box during checkout, which I did. I first noticed an authorization on my CC for the original price of $119.00 +shipping, but the final charge to my CC was $85.00 +shipping. The jacket arrived the next day.
A good experience all around.

leather coats etc (AKA leather connection)

Store http://www.leathercoatsetc.com/ AKA leather connection.
Experience: One of the worst buying experiences I've ever had.

Ordered a leather jacket from them over the phone. I received a jacket different than the one I ordered about a week later. Not slightly different, but totally different. I called them and spoke to a couple of apathetic reps, who refused to pay for return shipping. I sent the item back USPS insured at my expense on 10/31/08. Although the tracking number states that they received the item, they have not yet credited my card. I filed a dispute with my CC.

They were sweet as pie when I first placed my order, but nasty as hell when I called with the issue. I would not suggest this company to anyone.
