I'm happy with whatever location yall pick.  Just save me a small tent spot.  I have a small 4 man tent, but really it is a 1 man tent when you add the cot and my luggage and such.

My plan is to leave work Friday about 1pm and ahould be there ~5-6pm.

I am here at Suches!

The weather this afternoon is great - there are looking clouds but there is no sign of impending rain.

The weather forecast for Friday has afternoon rain - the Sat/Sun/Mon are clear and cooler.  I am likely to stay and ride all day Monday and head home late in the day or early on Tuesday.

Oops!  I intended to type “lurking” clouds - not "looking".

I just went for a couple hour ride and came back to the campground - no sign of MM.

Well I should have looked a little more thoroughly - Mike was down at the tent he set up when I stopped.   He heard me ride off and came in pursuit - but at the end of Wolf Pen Gap I turned right and came back to the campground - he turned left and went to Blairsville!

So, it was colder than expected last night and MM found a creative way to stay warm and make a profit.

Dave and I had a good burger in Dahlonega in the way back to camp. We ate at an Irish pub called Shenanigans and their claim to fame (like other pubs do) is all of the dollar bills stapled to the walls and ceiling. Our waitress said there is maybe $7000+ in bills.

Look closely...since MM had to head home this morning we put up a bill in his honor.

Stew !  What am I going to do with ya !!

.......

Well ...

OK ,   Now ---   " The Rest of the Story "

So Stew , Dave and me are at one of the big picnic tables planning the next day's ride ... well ... Stew is about to BUST trying to hold something in - kinda like when ya just let gas out down the hall and got out without being seen.
Next I get back to my tent and find out its for RENT ?
Well , in the campground area where I'm at , there's a burn circle in the middle to share , so , over I go to share the tale and gather information.
We all had a good laugh as we pass Stew's sign around ( you did a good job with it Stew - everybody there giggled as they passed it on).
Then came the plan :   and I went to get Stew !   Tongue
But my phone rang first !
It was some Girl changed to Boy wanting to rent some [s]snuggles[/s] tent space for the night ... she/he sounded really nice so I told she/he  we would be expecting her/him .    I went to get Stew and Dave for the campfire.  Wink
but wait ...
Stew had called from his office phone so I couldn't tell who it was (good idea) till I called back with the message for him to come join the SNUGGLE PARTY and his secretary got it  (I can imagine the talk at the water cooler Tuesday Morning) ???    Lips Sealed

So

Stew and Dave make it to the fire-pit and I thanked him for the GREAT IDEA and let him know I've already made a $100.00 bucks and we've got room for one more in the tent !

I thought I'd had the last laugh till the $1 bill thing ... ... Now  ...  I might have to change my name before going to the pub for a hamburger ???  Huh

Last night some camp neighbors told us about Bell Mountain in Hiawassee GA. It is a single lane road with super steep inclines and warnings along the way about proceeding. We made it up safely lugging up in 1st gear the whole way. On the way down we left the bikes off and just coasted the whole way down riding the brakes the whole way. I wanted to see how far I could coast so as it opened up at the bottom I was coasting at about 30mph and there was a police cruiser there at the bend. I just smiled and waved as I silently rolled by with no engine noise or headlight and he just smiled and waved back. Dave was afraid of going to jail in the mountains of NGA so he switched his bike on so he was "legal".

If you're in Hiawassee look up Bell Mountain, but make sure you go on a day that the roads are dry and you aren't driving down in the dark.

Nice photo Stew.....except for the pile of laundry in front of my bike!  The ride began with air temps in the 50's, and by the time we made the hour ride to Bell Mountain it was warm enough to shed the rain gear that was being used as a "wind block" layer.

The riding was great and we got some good fun rides with and occasional long ride without any cars blocking our fun.  The morning rides had the least amount of traffic - afternoon rides had lot of cars and trucks to slow us down.

Stew and I learned a new trick for riding on a curvy road with traffic.  We pulled off the side of the road in one of the "pull off" areas and watched for a long open gap in the direction we were riding....and then when we saw a slow car with a long line of cars behind - we knew they were slow and the gap was likely to get larger.  We would pull out in front of that group and then ride at a fun pace until we caught up with traffic ahead - then pull over and wait for that slow car to catch up....then pull out and repeat the "fun run"  until we caught the cars ahead (repeat as necessary). This method seems to make the best of a bad situation - and allow fun riding even when traffic is busy.  Sure it is more fun to ride the curves "non stop" - but riding it in sections is better than just following slow traffic.

This was the first year that camping in the parking area at Two Wheels of Suches was not great - we had two large toy hauler/campers that ran their generators all night.  It was not bad in my trailer as it has insulated walls - but poor Stew was in a tent and pretty close to one generator.  Maybe next time Stew will want to set up in the camping area, and I may set up on the other side of the parking lot.

On the days that MM was there we mostly road curves - and then on the day we escorted him out Stew and I continued to take a long southern loop home.  Maybe on the next outing we should plan on a day to take a long ride to explore areas we haven't seen.  Although 3-4 days of riding is nice - a week would be much better!
