With the tank(s), you don't have to carry the side profile all the way to thru to the inside. Will they be steel or fiberglass? Glass gives you a lot more design options, unless you are really good with sheetmetal.
Don't forget, you can put crossover lines between the 2 tanks, and a in-line shutoff can be hidden to look much cleaner.
Also, before you do all your final welding think about your wiring. You could run some flex tubing or hose inside to hide some wires.
Keep up the great work, and keep those pictures coming.

On a side note; I learned building a airplane at home that when you are 90% done, you only have 90% more to go!

If you are talking about that picture I posted, it's a foot clutch and hand shifter.  You would be reaching right below your left leg to shift.

To the seat width concern I agree it could be too wide right now.  My butt only hits about 6-8 inches of the width and it's a little over 12 inches wide.  It's easy to trim down both the leather and frame if I want to go narrower.  I'm waiting to see how it looks with the tank before trimming as it's a lot more work to put it back than it is to take it off  Smiley  It's not so easy to change the back rim shape on the seat, it won't bend in a predictable way anymore due to the flange so I'd have to replace it and re-do the leather.  If I re-build it in the future there's a chance to re-do the curve of the back rim.

The tanks will be aluminum.  I'll build the buck of plywood stations and cover it with tape to confirm I like the shape and generate patterns for the sheet metal. This following pic shows an idea of what will attempt.  I will post the taped up buck when I get that far.

Would rolling edges down and lacing them together help shape the seat?

I hope you are REALLY good at working sheetmetal, that tank will be a LOT of work. The shape and style looks great thou. It would much easier with fiberglass, but if alum. is what you want to go with, best of luck.
The rest of your work shows some serious craftsmanship. hope you can continue at the same level.

Love it!  Little bit modern Indian Scout with a cleaner board track look.  I would use even less taper front to back if you wanted a little more board track into it.   Either way, it's looking great, but I think you'll want to make adjustments to that seat before it's all said and done.  Just my opinion.

Just a thought....

There isn't a single straight line on that bike. The entire essence of that bike is one of fluid curves.

I realize that the tank is a total mock-up, but the upper and lower crease lines don't match the rest of the bike.

I like the crease lines.  A lot of board trackers had squared off tanks (many had rounded tanks too) which most modern customs and choppers don't have.  Being a modern interpretation, I think more the more (obvious) the board track features the better.  That's why I suggested the possibility of even less taper.

EDIT:  And in saying that, if it were my project and my tank mockup looked that good, I would be ignoring all of this banter. Ha, ha.

Thanks to all for taking the time to look.

I didn't think the teardrop or fully streamlined shape would be consistent with the boardtracker feel, that's why I started the more defined tops and sides on the tank but still kept the general shape that follows the frame lines.

I'm looking forward to the challenge of tanks.  I've done some metal shaping but still consider myself a newbie.  This tank shape is a little less challenging than previous tank as there won't be a lot of shrinking or stretching required but will be more challenging in that it will require a close fit to follow the frame lines.  I also plan to do some kind of rib down the center of rear fender and that I have not done before.

I did the tank, front and rear fenders and seat pan on my first build, it took a couple of tries on each part but this is how it sits today.
