Stew,

We still have one bed free, but you have to commit to come to get that bed as we will pledge it to the first person who commits to showing up.

Thanks for the confirmation. I can't commit and don't hold a bed for me, but if it seems that we end up not doing anything that weekend (I may not know until that Friday) I will see if I can do what I did this past trip and just come up for one night, ride the next day, and go home that night. It's a 4 hour drive one way, but it's worth it if I can do it and not get in trouble at home  Wink

And I can sleep in my trailer if a bed in the cabin needs to be used by someone else.....and I can always bring a cot that could be set up in the cabin if there is floor space.

Thanks guys! No worry in making special arrangements to accommodate me.  I'm pretty versatile and can sleep anywhere, even my truck. I am young (41  Cool) and don't have any bad ailments yet so comfort isn't an issue.  In my family, we have a saying that we can 'sleep on a fence post' because my dad, brother and I can fall asleep pretty much anywhere when it's nap time,

Everyone have a happy 4th of July -- stay safe from all them on the road drinkers, cell phoner wavers,  etc.

Now now, that was my only real pay me ticket in over 30 years, so I am not doing all that badly in the "staying away from the police" department -- as a matter of fact it took two sets of PARK RANGERS to catch me this time.    ..... equipped with multiple sets of stupid doesn't look like a speed limit signs and super low speed limits and lots of roving road blocks to distract me.

I was speed trapped by Yogi Bear's nice Ranger Smith, and I wasn't looking for that.

Roll Eyes

BTW, someone should explain to the newbies why we don't collect evidence and then post it on YouTube for wives and such to find -- it causes trouble, it does.

Wives get so durn upset when their co-workers show them "the neat new YouTube video of your husband's group acting out up on the Dragon".

All Dragon newbies solemnly repeat the mountain mantra 3 times  --  "What goes on in the mountains   STAYS  in the mountains".

And its not like your wife isn't plenty smart enough to figure out where this forum is on the Internet and dial into it to see what we are doing all the time while we're out doing it.

Went for a CMA ride Saturday up and around Key-Springs Mountain .    Rode up hill before the day warmed-up very much.   In the middle of the afternoon we came down --- Reminded me how nice and COOL it feels up on the parkway in the late summer.  Wink

Well !

I took the Wife and Son to Grandfathers Mountain (NC.) for the "Highland Games" .  Did the Tent/Cots/Shower house thing for the weekend.  I may have opened a Pandora's Box of sorts .  Undecided
So we were sharing highlights of the weekend with some of our old friends that we did Scouts with.   The Eagle scout from that family is going to the Marines this fall.    His mom is wanting to  "re-live" some of our "Scout-Car-Camping" days before he goes.

Now I might have to participate in a similar adventure on the Natchez Trace Parkway during the Labor Day Weekend ?

Don't know how this is going to turn out .   I normally have the reins in my hands or even in my teeth when these events come up but this time the reins seem to be around my neck !  Tongue

Life use-to-be so simple ...  Embarrassed        We are doing Vacation Bible School this week and are really busy , but I should know if its  a go or no-go some time next week.

The fall trips are notorious for getting somewhat fuzzy by the time they actually do arrive.   Too much time elapses, things change.

MM, do tell us when it becomes clear if your plans have indeed shifted as I will start advertising the empty bed(s) that week for those who had some vague tentative plans to come.   I would like to do this before the 3rd of this upcoming month because if we need to downsize the room (or cancel the room) I have to do it 30 days out.

Natchez Trace (and the park that surrounds it) is 444 miles long, so it is somewhere between MM's and Alabama the whole way.

Weather still looks excellent.

The Natchez Trace is an old traders route running from Nashville Tn. to  Natchez Ms.   Its a lot more  "Tame" than the Blue-Ridge .   It does have three free campground (w/bath houses and all) , one at each end and one in the middle.   Speed limit is 45mph and there are nature walks and  historic things to see all along the way , (Indian mounds and such) . Roll Eyes
Its a favorite ride for Bicyclist and there are 10 more campgrounds (Bicyclist only).   We could use the three open campgrounds any time we like and they are on the way to Texas if ya'll want to go in the spring !  Wink
