Interesting how Bill brags about getting his VA medical care now on our nickel, isn't it?

Bill, your comment sullied yesterday, but I guess you're too old and crotchety to care.

Originally U.S. Army, MI.  Later USAF.

Bill -

Maybe I will someday, who knows what the future brings.

But I tell you what - if I ever do, I'll walk in there proudly, not with your attitude about my brothers ( and sisters now ) in arms.

Mick -

You certainly do count.  The Royal Army, Royal Navy, Royal Marines, and RAF have all fought beside us against common enemies for nearly 100 years now - brothers in arms we are.

Jerry if and when to walk in the VA you will see young soldiers wheeling around in wheel chairs because they have lost a leg or 2,Not a pretty sight, and for why.

The why is for liberty. Something you can't understand because your trapped in your own hatred for America. The majority of those hero's would do it all over again if asked. Some of us understand the freedoms we enjoy are a gift from previous generations who thankfully loved this country more then you do.

Lupo with the modern medical things they can do today,They can cut your legs off and attach  to the soldier so he can enjoy the freedom you have been enjoying. And the why is for profit.

Lupo -

Amen to that - you said it very well.

People like Bill just will never get it.  Hatred is a cancer that just grows until it consumes one, and Bill is consumed.

I had an uncle who waited around during WW II to get drafted rather then enlist.  He railed all of his life about how he hated the Army.

He never married nor made two nickels to rub together, and when he collapsed of a stroke in the 1970s, they hauled him to a VA hospital when he underwent brain surgery.  Unfortunately, he lingered for several months, then the VA buried him in a VA cemetery.  I've always had mixed emotions about his lying there for eternity among proud soldiers, sailors, Marines, and airmen who heeded the call of their own volition.  I wonder what he would have thought as they played Taps as they lowered him into his grave.

Bill -

You have gone over the deep end and your continued posts on what began as a thread dedicated to honor are simply replusive.

Do you even know what Honor means?

No, Bill, getting drafted has nothing to do with it.

What bothers me to this day is my deceased uncle's attitude about having to serve his country.

Then, when he was down and out, literally, it was the Army he hated that gave him a final resting place, and took care of him in his last illness.  Ironic - you said what you said about your time in the Army, yet it's the VA who cares for you now.

When the United States is attacked everyone would serve his country,But to go around the world bombing other country isn't right,We shouldn't lose our men for that,And we shouldn't help other countries like we help Israel and Iraq when they fought Iran,Is it any wonder that other countries don't like us.If I remember right Hitler tried that.

If I recall corrected, there was an attack on 9/11 that killed more people than Pearl Harbor did.

You said it correctly - when attacked, all should come to the defense of their country.  So, quit all of this nonsense and get behind our attempts to defeat the world-wide attack on civilization by the radical Muslims.
