Many Thanks to all Vets!

Do British vets count ?
Michael D.Rowe  8 th Royal Tank regiment,  nov 54 to nov 57

Centurions?
And YES, absolutley.  A Vet is a Vet. I happen to be in Canada this week, so I'm honoring Remembrance Day here, and getting Veteran's day wishes via eMail from my family back in Texas and South Dakota.

We didn't make the tanks you fired, we made the tanks you fired more deadly.

Mick, that was an attempt at a play on words from a TV ad. Tanker was with M-60 tanks in a U.S. Army Division in Germany and I was in the same Division as a mechanic.
Bill, I'm sure the Army felt the same way about you. I don't believe in having a draft for that reason.

So your point of putting this in this in this thread is to tell us that since you didn't like your time in the service, we should not honor and thank you and others who served?  Give me a break!!

Post all this you want in the political section, or start your own thread, but let us say THANKS without all the vitriol.

My Father landed on Omaha Beach, 6 June 1944.  He never talked about it.  My Mother was in the Auxiliary Territorial Service.  They were married in Salisbury Cathedral, during WWII.
My brother and I were in the service during the Viet Nam War, he was Navy, I was in the Air Force.

Here we go chaps A nice pic of a Centurian , 60 odd tons fully loaded
two fuel tanks one with 120 gal,the other 180 gal, and sometimes we pulled a mono trailer with another 180 gal,it could be gotten rid of after use with a small explosive in the hitch,
3 gal to the mile,on a hard surface up to 5 gal per mile on mud.
4 man crew Commander ,gunner, radio opperator and loader, and little ole me as the driver, all on my lonesome..

In America Nov. 11th is known as Veterans Day

In the UK Nov. 11th is known as Armastice Day

Here in Canada it is known as Rememberance Day

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 the guns of WW1 fell silent ... and with the going down of the sun we continue to remember them ...

Kaywood Bemister Elliott (d), Botwood, Nfld. - WW2, Gunner - Royal Newfoundland (59th) Heavy Regiment; E.T.O.

Samuel James Fiander (d), English Hr. West, Nfld. - WW2, Merchant Seaman; Battle of the Atlantic

God Bless all who serve.
