I just finished watching episodes 5-6-and 7 of "Pacific" on HBO,
if there is anyone out there who for some reason did not go in the service, I would strongly advise you watch this series,be warned it is very graphic, But it shows what fantastic soldiers these guys were.
In the three above episodes they (the US Marines) attacked a tiny
island in the Pacific called ,hope I get the spelling right "Peliliu"
it had an airstrip that the US needed,they did get it at what seemed terrible loss,I'm sure glad I wasn't there. Every single man deserves a medal.
