ALL scheduled roads consist of (at least mostly) pavement.  The only exception is the optional "Dirty Sister" route, which is indicated on the map with a dotted black line over by Leakey.

There is one very short stretch on the red route where it is paved.. but only in the tire tracks.  The middle of the road is not paved.  I need to check that road before you get here.

As for the "automatic bike washes", we need a LOT more rain for those to be operational.

The biggest road hazards are gravel washout from driveways, and poorly made cattle guards.  (You can ask MM what those can do to a rear shock absorber  Shocked )

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut between the seat and the handlebars. Make sure yours isn't too tight or too loose.

Check the point where the shock meets the bottom mounting ring !   The little bit of weld there is the only thing holding the shock in place !
I was surprised when one of them broke !  Embarrassed

The bump leading up to the Cattle Grate is bigger than the bump going over the Cattle Grates.
Maybe my Saddle Bags were loaded too heavy ?  Or I had too much Breakfast ?  Huh

Hay YouzGuyz ,
Is the TX Swiss Alps Loop worth a hoot ?
     That would be TX - 39 , 16 , 470 .
I understand it's just a little West of the Sisters.

We've been on so many back roads in that area ... we could have already been on the LOOP , as far as I know ?

Those roads are east of the sisters.  The 16 and 39 roads are a part of the Monday Three Sisters ride.  I can modify that ride to pick up 470 ( I don't know if I ever took you down that road yet or not.  There have been quite a few rides over the years!)
I looked, and don't see those roads listed as the "TX Swiss Alps Loop".  You got a link?

Waiting on warm weather seems to be  a Problem ?    For me anyway !

A view like this might make a guy slow down into the lower gears !   Smiley

Didn't see Hwy 39 mentioned in that article.  Don't matter, we will be riding it anyway, as it is one of my favorites.  Cheesy
For the leg between Vanderpool and Medina, I will contemplate using 337 or 470.   Undecided

This year, that view of the bluebonnets will probably be long gone by the time you get here.  They are blooming now and will probably peak by the end of March.  But other wild flowers will bloom after them.
It is hard to predict the Texas wild flower season.

As long as we get to see a few "LONG HORNS" I'll call it a real TEXAS RIDE !

Smiley

..........................

That little twisty road that leads to Stonehenge where Lancer's buddy missed a curve and went ridding through a park full of small trees before popping back out on the road was a really nice road to ride.
But
Without one of us doing the detour through the park this time .  Wink

I remember the "ride through the tees" incident, but not who did it.  When you lead a ride you miss all the excitement!  Angry

Longhorn spotting is a chance thing.  The best I can do is go places where I have seen them before... and see if they are out!

It was Old Indian that went riding in the forest. He just missed a couple of trees before regaining control and getting back on the road. It was shortly thereafter that he had his spill on the paved road. I'm guessing that bike was just a little too souped up for him for the windy roads. I remember him telling us that it was basically all straight roads in his neck of the woods.

After living in the TN Hills for so long , I think I'd miss having a few curves in the path sometimes .  Wink

I can't say that without admitting :
That after about 30 years of ridding I thought I knew all about curves till ... The first ride to the Dragon and trying to follow OldFeller, Lancer, Versey and BigZuke.   It was a little embarrassing at first.   Grin

That is a car tire on the back of my first Savage.   Radial TA
