We are getting closer - just a couple weeks.

The weather is looking pretty typical - chance for showers on Wednesday and the other days are dry.

There is a nice grocery store very near the campground - you should be able to get about any food item you need and not have to haul much of anything in.

I put a new back tire on the bike last night, ordered some brake pads and a front tire just in case I wear them out on this trip.

You're starting to scare me Dave with thinking about wearing out tires and brakes! Shocked Maybe I should have bought a sport bike. Grin

Starting to get excited about this trip!

Dave will have twice as much people to stop, whereas you have twice as much bike.

I just looked up the F800gt, it weighs 100 lbs less and has 30 hp more than my Honda. Wow!

I just turned 17,000 miles on the F800, and it has the original brake pads and they look fine - but as Verslagen says I am going to be braking for two of us.  The back tire had 9,000 miles on it and it would not have lasted more than a couple days more, the front tire has about 8.000 miles and look like it should be fine for the week of riding.  However -  I wanted the spare parts just in case I wore something out before we are done for the week.  I don't intend doing any sportbike events - however the Pig Trail might bring out the adventuresome side!  (There will likely be a feminine voice echoing in my helmet radio if I get too festive).

The riding in Jasper is mostly casual cruising roads with nice gentle curves - the east end of the mountains have some really steep roads with very tight turns....but they aren't very long as you get down really quickly (no 13 mile long downhills like on Moonshiner 28 south of Highland, NC).  The roads really don't invite you to hustle like the Tail of the Dragon or Cherohala Skyway do - however they are full of curves and gentle hills and very fun to ride.

The area has nice riding on any style of motorcycle.

It certainly is good to be prepared and trailering allows you to do that.

That t-shirt Versy describes is funny. Not too sure your wife would appreciate it though. Grin

..............................

I've got the new cable on and ready , tires are like new , and the oil change is still resent .  The spare cables aren't here yet .

I'd like to bring the W650 , but I'm not trusting it yet ... I did get the carb kits in it today and it runs but the new chain is lost in the mail right now.

What if that bike is yours Versy?

Are you ready to haul Marcia around Arkansas and show her the scenery?

Well, dave I don't think I can haul anybody around on a bike I don't have some history on.
Let alone Marcia... Mike would slug me, stolen bike, stolen girl.   Cool

Dave just has to let that meanness out somehow .... That's why he's such a nice guy  ... no meanness build-up.    Cool
Besides
Versey , Springman and Steve could all bring dates if they wanted too.   Dave me and you are the odd ones here ... we'll probably get "Codie's" or something for bring "women" along  Grin

I'm sure the Guzzi will be just fine .   We took it on a CMAUSA ride over to the Dragon , Field-of-the-Woods , and Skyway this summer with a bunch of Harleys and Wings .   They all kept-up sometimes !   Roll Eyes     Yep , even a Guzzi can go slow if need be !  Wink
.........................................................................

So , I'm having an issue with the "W"  .    Its got some kind of Carb thingie going on.   Huh
There is a Carb control electric thing (hooked on the butterfly spindle) , an accelerator pump (works off the throttle motion) , and it sat in a shed for years.
I've got a heavy dose of sea foam in the gas that might help it " self fix "  in a few tank fulls ??? Undecided

It don't want to go past 5K when barking the motor and in gear if falls flat about the same place too.

I've got the chain off now waiting on a new Blue-O-Ring chain to get here.
It should be perty with the Blue and Silver tank ?

It might see some mountains next year ?
or
I might fix and sell it for an extra buck ???    A couple thousand miles will tell the tale ?
...........................................................

If they don't clean-up , I'm thinking of getting a pair of these ...

I just turned the page on my calendar at work to the month of September. Dang it looks beautiful. Next Monday the 7th is Labor Day, no work. The following week 14-18 is my vacation for putting around in Arkansas. I'm back at work on the 21st and off again the 25th and 28th.

I should do this more often!!! Wink
