I dunno.....never been to the Natchez Trace.

I did go for a 100 mile ride yesterday....it was a good chance to look at the roads to see where we are going to ride in August.  I do take our local roads for granted - they are really nice 40-50 mph motorcycle roads.  Not quite as tight of curves as the Dragon, not as big of hills or swooping hills as the Cherahala Skyway - but they are nice and curvy and the paving is pretty good on most of them.  You do get behind a slow car, truck or tractor at times - most of the them they turn off pretty quickly and you don't have to follow them too long (They are not used to pulling over and letting you pass like they do in TN/NC.....this is not a hotbed of motorcycle activity - it is mostly just farmland.  The sight around corners was pretty good yesterday - the leaves and grass are not yet growing and you can see right through the wooded patches at the edge of the fields.

I dunno.....never been to the Natchez Trace.

Dave  you remember :   The General Lee and Andy's car ?
Well we were with-in a .5 mile of the Natchez Trace then.
I was trying to get us on the Trace , and we zized-zagged all over it but never got on it.  Tongue   We passed under it (seems like a dozen times) , rode parallel to  it for several miles --- but some how kept missing the entrance ramps ???   Lips Sealed

next time I hope to do better !  Smiley

Yep....I remember that ride, and I do remember trying to get onto the Natchez trace - and that triggered the memory of that little store.

That is a tough one for a lot of reasons.  The old building didn't meet the current building codes, it is 10 feet lower than the 100 year flood elevation of the Ohio River, and it was built with the porch right up against the street paving.  It has survived a lot of floods.....but not the fire.

It will be interesting to see how the Corps of Engineers and the Boone County Building Department can get around all the codes that wouldn't allow you to build anything new in that location.

I'd like very much to do this ride...
Unfortunately geography does not help me...
Really a nice idea anyway!  Smiley

Hey Violent Rage. I am not sure if I like your moniker or if I should just be afraid. I suspect you have some great motorcycle roads in Italy. I am sure many of us here would love to ride some of the roads you ride. Thump on!

I'm still riding my bike just aroudn the court. Eventually, ill venture out to the near market, and then to the edge of the city, state line and hopefully in some good year or two ill make it to you guys.

Don't take too long getting ready.....we are all getting older!

Springman is the youngest fellow to join us on these group rides recently, and he may be one of the next generation of Savage trip organizers.

It is somewhat harder for the young folks with their work and family duties to get away for a few days.  As we reach Geezerdom our schedules are a bit more flexible, and the family members are glad to have us out of the house for a while.

The TN, NC and KY events are a bit far away from you.....MMRanch and I are threatening to have a South Dakota trip in a year ot two.

I'll keep you guys posted. Told the GF that with time my dreams are to go on these long trips.

I'm South of Sacramento, in the San Joaquin Valley.

Hey, count me in for South Dakota.

Also, google best motorcycle roads in Arkansas. I think we should plan a trip to Arkansas some time.
