1986 Savage FTW bob chop build
12/03/13 at 07:26:54

Hi everyone, new savage owner here with a project I think you all might find cool.   I picked up a 1986 LS 650 for cheap and my buddy happens to have just opened a custom shop Forever Two Wheels, doing mostly HD work.   This kid is a pro welder with mad skillz.  We are going for a show quality, not your average chop job, really different looking bike that can still be ridden on a regular basis. Check out the progress so far.

Here it is a perfectly good (yet very crusty) working and riding 86 savage.

Bending up some handlebar risers.  We are going for that real narrow forward bend drag bar look....you'll see when it's all done.

Hey Old Rider, we are up in the northern north east.  Maine!  That's a good price for a Road Glide, you should have no problem selling that.

This is what a couple hours of sanding can do for your side covers....

soon the real fabrication will begin   Grin

Got a little bit done today.  My seat from Sully's customs came in.  I thought about making my own, but hey for $50 I couldn't go wrong with this one.  Looks great and the quality is better than I could have done.
Here I am placing it on the frame trying to figure out where to mount it.

Notice the carb in these seat placement pics?  That's what the cover looked like before a little cleaning sanding and cleaning some more.
Here's during:

Here's the top cover and float bowl.  So far looking good! Grin

Knowing a guy with a shop and air tools really helps

That's gonna be cool the way you have the exhaust routed, can't wait to see it done.
