I considered that when making it. The angle of the linkage from the pivot point to the pedal make is so that any movement in the swingarms travel results in little to no effect on the brake pedal.

When I first starting thinking of ideas I almost scrapped this plan because of that consideration until I started doing a bit of testing.

As you can see in the pic the resting point of the pivot is against the swingarm. The swing arm will travel up and down a few inches but the angle of the swingarm doesnt change as drastically and that is what affects the pedals movement more.

The rod I used is thick enough that it doesnt seem to straighten out when pulled on. I tried to use as slight of bends as possible also to keep it from doing that.

Its not the best engineered device but it will serve the purpose. I find as Im getting closer to the bike being done I am less and less picky with what I do. There has got to be a name for that.

A few days after that I made an upholstery pan for my cafe seat. When it was dry I padded it and made the seat cover.

So today I took her out for a little 20 mile ride and she performed great. Out of the 7 or 8 street bikes Ive had I think this is my favorite to drive so far. Its not standing up wheelies or chromed to the hilt but it rides soo darn smooth and has such a nice sound its a blast. Also it gets more looks and questions than any bike ive had before.

Next is the paint job. Im really torn on the color scheme. Originally I wanted to do an off white with a red and blue stripe like Steve Mcqueen had on some stuff.

Then I wanted to do a red, black and white color scheme.

Now Im kind of liking the retro look of the Black with gold accents.

Maybe Ill do Black and Red with Gold accents. I just dont know, time to fire up the photoshop (actually Corel).

How far is the fork leg from the tank @ full lock ?
I am hoping to do a different front end with a tank swap ... I am dying to not use a savage FE. I am thinking like katana or something similar with a lot less offset. 1.5 inch or under against the 2.5 of the savage.

The tank off an older honda like yours - if I can fit it would be the ticket.

I built a house a few years ago....and it took 3 full years of constant work. And yes.....the standards I had at the beginning were softened a bit as I got to the end. I found that it was impossible to make an entire house "perfect".....and at the end I accepted "nice" as a good standard.

The fork tubes are say maybe 1 inch or perhaps 1-1/2 inches away. The clip-on itself is about 1/4 inch away. But I mounted the tank that way on purpose because I wanted it as tight and clean as it could be at the front. Im not crazy about seeing a bunch of the head area of the frame.

Many of the Suzuki cruisers models have a ton of the head showing and thats kind of an eyesore to me.
