You boys are lucky you live over the pond.. Football mania is insane here at the moment.... It's on the telle 24/7 what with the live game, the repeat, the after game chat, the chat about the chat, what a load of bollox.. (erm.. is that allowed?) I'll get my camera out tomoorw and show you all the amount of silly flags folks over here have got stuck on jam jars.. (Cars for you not cockney speaking folk) What a complete and utter waste of time...............

Looking forward to the world cup tiddley wink play of though.... Roll Eyes

My opinion and it's just that.. on a serious note.. Is I feal the sport is corrupt.. We're talking serious amounts of money here... and I don't believe for a second it's a level playing field... I don't know about over in the U.S. but in europe and UK it's been proved in court that Cricket has been Rigged, Horse Racing Rigged... and even F1 has come into question....... football 'tis a silly game but over here it's very popular and peeps love it with a passion... Undecided

p.s. and edit.. I'm allowed to say that here, on a UK board I'd be hunted down and covered in custurd for saying such things...... Embarrassed

not really, its fine to dis football i also don't really like football at all the thing that gets me is the clear bias in favour of the biggest clubs, in terms of referee decisions.

Watched Germany vs. Australia game over at friends house.

Don't know the teams, don't follow the game, don't give a rat's...

but guess what, I had a great time, prepared some nice food, met some
people, had a beer or 5, enjoyed the company and will do it next weekend
again just for the heck of it, so at the end if all this mindless craze
unites ppl and generates good vibes worldwide, so be it Wink

(better than nascar either way)

that was one game in 1950,the US has NEVER won the world cup and they wont this year, one game is a 10th of the world cup,
England won the world cup against germany in 1967 . because the US and Uk tied they didn't lose they get a point each.
England has beaten America dozens of times since 1950,in fact just about every country has,even mexico.

might be good vibes Stimpy ,but I bet Australia are a little pissed at Germany right now, they played great,good game except for the buzzing noise, I think that will ruin it for everyone,horns I guess they are. Angry

Mick, I actually like "football" I think it is perhaps the best overall "sport" that I have seen. In the 70's I was a season ticket holder for the old North American league Tampa Rowdies. Our star player was one of your countrymen Rodney Marsh. The team was mostly Brits and South Africans. We even had two Americans. I got to see several English teams including Manchester United and Coventry. The best overall team that I saw was Moscow's Red Army team. I even got to see Pele when he came to play for New York. Oh!...and I would love to see England and Germany in the final.
