yes the disadvantage is lash in the chain, but shouldnt be anymore noticeable than accelerating through the chain. plus the braking force will go through the cush drive also.
there is less harmful force put on the chain during braking than accelerating. the big singles power pulses put much more stress on the chain.
think of it as assisted engine braking.
and with the stock rear tire i wouldnt really back it in, but i would light it up and slide out of turns. Its a wonder how fun that is on dry rotted tires.

Yeah, I guess all you have to do is let off the throttle so the engine takes the slack out,
then
brake. Just a small adjustment in braking technique.
Man, once you get that "Suzuki Savage" all finished and badass... temporarily put on a sissy bar, saddlebags, leather fringe and misc. cruiser crap and go sliding it around a go-kart track. I'd be laughing 2 days straight, especially if you passed a couple of sportbikes and sumos

been doing a little math. im gonna run a 17t 45t sprocket combo to give me a 2.647 final drive ratio. taller than the stock 2.956 ratio.
also designing my rotor adaptor. its gonna be trick as hell. lots of stator cover modification necessary.
did you include any ratio change due to the change in rear tire size?

thats just the actual gearing change. The tire is slightly taller than stock. by like 3/4"

Nice brake/chain drive setup you have there
BUT
take care, if the chain gets a little loose and starts wobbling up/down a bit it'll gnaw on the brake caliper...

Ridiculous. There are skilled machinists around here, but nobody that good *and* as creative.
