DR650 exhaust
01/20/20 at 06:36:24

I know (from reading various posts), that most DR 650 parts will not fit the LS650, but will the exhaust header?
Thanks,
Mark

Nope......the DR650 head has the exhaust port on the left side of the head, the exhaust port on the Savage is on the right side.

Yes, I know that.
I want to know if it fits and try a different routing.

Only the newer DR650SE as the exhaust port on the left. the older DR650S  (early 90's)  is on the right , It has some wild bends and I have no idea of the size or fit to a Savage. It doesn't appear that you can by one new from a dealer ,and finding one in good condition used may prove impossible , I'd have a shop make you a custom pipe .(all shining and no dents)

I can buy a new stainless on for a very good price. I just need to know if the flange will fit the exhaust post.

I have no idea , but even if the pipe was the right size and the flange bolts up ,You would still end up having to bend the pipe, the cylinder on the Savage is upright and the DR cylinder leans forward, and you want to be sure the pipe was no larger than 1.5"-ID

Im going to try one if a few months.  If you havent done anything by then Ill let you know.

Im of the mind that you could rotate it and find a usable angle.

Exactly Spammy! As long as the flange is the right size.

Have you tried heading to a dr650 forum and asking someone to grab a measurement?

DDR riders must belong to a secret society. I joined the group and posted my request...Not one person has responded with any flange or port dimensions for me!

Thats been my experience with most forums.  If anything requires a person to get off of their computer chair it aint gonna happen.  Opinions are quick to come in, but a simple measurement, pfft.

This site is lucky to have a bunch of good forum posters.  Very helpfully usually.

I tried a 90's DR650 some years back and it did not fit.
The bend in the pipe was too tight and the flange/pipe did not either.

Actually Lancer, can you remember what year the exhaust was from, as they changed the design in 1996.

Instead of cobbling together an exhaust that was not designed to fit the bike, why not take the OEM flange and have a custom exhaust mandrill bent just as you want it? What are you looking from an alternative exhaust that you aren’t getting from the OEM pipe?
