Well, I found a dollar, got the new tank (2me) installed, new battery, and a new seat bracket.

Hopefully I'll get the speedo and lights sorted out tomorrow.

Hey guys.  I reserved Riverside tent site #14 for Sunday and Monday night.  It’s like 100 yards from Dave’s RV site.

Since I’m trailering my bike with the truck, I’ll have room to bring other stuff.

I’m going to bring some fire wood.  They have fire pits.  We can use that at the Ranch House in the evening where I assume we’ll congregate.

Anything you guys want me to bring that you don’t feel like toting along?
- Air compressor?
- Food?
- Bottled water?
- gas can?
- motorcycle jack?
- Rotella T4 if anybody drinks oil?
- Beer (I quit drinking, but I’ll grab some if anyone wants)
- ????

Let me know.  I think I’ll leave the fishing poles and kayak at home.

Are those the days that you are leaving and returning home?

We are leaving home on the 10th and taking 2 days to drive to Waxahachee to spend the 12th/13th with Deb's step sister and husband.  We will be leaving their house on the 14th and will arrive at the campground in the afternoon.

We will be leaving the campground on Monday the 22nd and driving to the Seminole Canyon State Park in Comstock for the next 2 nights.  We will then turn toward home and drive toward home on the 25/26th.

Versey , should I go see if I can find a handle bar mount for a Garmin ?
One of the modes is pure GPS Speedo .   Even on Navigation mode it still shows your speed.   Huh
All you would need is a USB charging port and a little unused handle bar space.    You probably already have the charging port ?

............................................
Hay Paul ,  - Snack Food and Bottled water .   There never is too much !   Smiley

.............

I'm headed to Lancers the 12th or 13th , and getting home two or three days after the party is over  !   I'm afraid to be gone much longer , I don't want Marcia to start thinking she could live without me !   Grin

The good ole smoky GT550! It’s awesome how much torque a good little 2-stroke can pump out.  My first real bike was a 2-stroke 1975 Honda MR175 (Elsinor).  It wasn’t great at anything, but did everything pretty well and could take some abuse (except the highway).  Back when Houston’s ‘now 7 lane boulevards’ were beaten down 2-lane farm roads. The Elsinor wasn’t street legal so I managed to get stopped and slapped with 13 violations, taken to the station, bike towed.  Dad wasn’t too happy about paying to get the bike out of impound and I did have to pay him back with blood, sweat, and tears.  But they did drop the citations and told me not to get caught again (game on!).  I don’t remember how long I got grounded from riding, but I mostly stayed off the road after that (at least not where the cops could catch me and I had a getaway trail nearby).

yep !    It surprises me anyone buys non-street-legal bikes ???    Huh Huh Huh

But

Somebody buys one of them everyday ???    Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

.........
That Honda MR175 (Elsinor) might have felt like a dual sport .

I had a DR200 about 2 years ago , that was really a nice little machine - till I took Marcia for an afternoon ride on it .   The seat must have been made for two 15 year old butt's ?     Roll Eyes
So
Up for sale it went and I got the 350 Meteor to replace it (2022) .   The "RE-Hunter" wasn't an option till the next year (2023) ,  but it would have been a closer replacement for the DR.
But the Meteor is paid for and so is the performance cam , the free flow exaust , and the free flow intake ... so I have to keep for it now !
Maybe next year I can ride the Meteor for the Texas ride ?

Dual-Sport tires on this might be my next bike ... or the Triumph 400 Scrambler ???

I used to do all my riding off road, and I have owned several non-street legal bikes (1972 Kawasaki 125 Enduro, 1970 Yamaha 175 converted to motocrosser, 1973 & 1974 Suzuki TM125, 1973 & 1974 Suzuki RL250 Exacta trials bikes, 1976 Ossa 250 Phantom motocross, 2004 Sherco 250 and 2009 Sherco 320 trials bike).

Dirt bikes are far more agile and lighter than street legal bikes, and when you fall down there aren't any lights, turn signals, mirrors, horns or shiny mufflers to get bent or broken!

I would still own a trials bike if I had somebody to ride with - I sold my Sherco trials bike as I was going on rides in the woods alone and it just didn't seem to be safe - I was riding in places where I would not see anyone for hours!

To your point Dave, riding alone in the woods can be dangerous, or deadly.  One of our church members is Champas Parker, 2 time world motocross champion (250 and 500 machines; the first American ever to win those world championships) and a few weeks back when riding with another person had an accident and ripped his stomach open about 8-10”.  He thought he was going to die in the woods but his buddy was able to contact 911 and get him to a hospital in time to save his life.  He was fortunate he was not alone.
With his lifelong riding experience even he went down hard on this ride.
