''over-tired'' is a opinion, depending on someone's experience, needs, and several other factors. If you are interested only in acceleration, you want as light a tire that still gives you the required traction. If you are concerned mostly with looks, you don't care about weight or mass you want a tire that ''looks good''. If you want to drag your pegs in the twistes, you want matched tires that stick till the handlebars drag. If you want a tire that rides like a pillow and lasts 20k, you get as big a tire that will fit and has a hard compound for mileage. ALL TIRE CHOICES ARE COMPROMISES! For someone that weighs over 350lbs, and wants to hop-up a S40, a skinny little tire Dave would run on his Cafe would NOT be the best choice. Nor would the 150/90 15 I run on my bagger style ride. With your size a 140 is not a ''wrong'' choice. (in my opinion) The compound, construction, make and model are just as important as size in your choice. Weight will vary with different style tires, or even the ply rating, a 6 ply will be heavier than the same tire in 4 ply. Try to think of the "big picture'' before you make a choice of your tires. Making room for a bigger tire while you can is never a bad idea, you don't have to run a tire that needs the room, but you can in the future if you need, or want to.
