I used the 140/90 and it was a mistake. Heavy!  For better performance, I'd use a 130/90.  I am actually moving to an 18" rear wheel with 130/70 tire. The stock bike is way over-tired. Cheers,  Cool!

I now understand your desire for more power......a lot more!

From a performance standpoint - most production bikes are "over tired".  The public wants beefy looking tires to satisfy the visual appeal - the 30 HP Savage doesn't need a big tire to put the power to the ground.

Bigger tires have more mass and require more power to get them moving - smaller tires take less power to get moving.  I have a 110/80-18 tire that I have been using for a couple of summers - I have never lost traction with it (it does look pretty skinny by current standards).

The other issue with over-tiring a the rear wheel is that the wider tire requires more force to initiate a turn, and the wider profile takes more time to travel from edge to edge.

370 pounds. You're gonna require custom forks and shocks. I would strongly consider GSX600 forks. Contact CL Moto Tech for some properly sprung and dampened shocks or seriously consider building a hard tail. There is no way that swingarm geometry will support a high horsepower engine and a 370 pound rider.

You also have to give strong consideration to your brakes. If you stick with the OEM 38mm forks, you'll want to use Shawn's BBK.

You're gonna be asking quite a lot out of every component of that bike - all at the same time.

''over-tired'' is a opinion, depending on someone's experience, needs, and several other factors.
If you are interested only in acceleration, you want as light a tire that still gives you the required traction.
If you are concerned mostly with looks, you don't care about weight or mass you want a tire that ''looks good''.
If you want to drag your pegs in the twistes, you want matched tires that stick till the handlebars drag.
If you want a tire that rides like a pillow and lasts 20k, you get as big a tire that will fit and has a hard compound for mileage.
ALL TIRE CHOICES ARE COMPROMISES!
For someone that weighs over 350lbs, and wants to hop-up a S40, a skinny little tire Dave would run on his Cafe would NOT be the best choice.
Nor would the 150/90 15 I run on my bagger style ride.
With your size a 140 is not a ''wrong'' choice. (in my opinion)
The compound, construction, make and model are just as important as size in your choice. Weight will vary with different style tires, or even the ply rating, a 6 ply will be heavier than the same tire in 4 ply.
Try to think of the "big picture'' before you make a choice of your tires.
Making room for a bigger tire while you can is never a bad idea, you don't have to run a tire that needs the room, but you can in the future if you need, or want to.

under these circumstances, I withdraw my previous recommendations. You might even want to consider a 'darkside' option ! Cool

I’m thinking that an extended swingarm with custom bends would allow greater tire choice while at the same time open up some possibilities for suspension changes.
