Rear wheel came back loose laced from Buchanan today.  Trued tonite.
That's the stock rear rim in front of the new rear wheel!

Also started first welds on the down tube of the frame.

I imagine you'll be running a chain instead of belt ?

Yes.  I picked up a 14 tooth for the front and a 49 tooth for the back.  I see there's a lot of folks that like to go with less reduction in final drive compared to stock but I didn't mind the stock ratio and I'm increasing tire diameter substantially.  My hope is to be close to stock final drive when you consider the tire size change.  I don't know link count yet but I'm guessing it could be in the 130 link range so the belt had to go.

I plan on 530 but will wait until know the length.  14 probably is small for a stock tire but I'm going from about a 24 inch diameter to 28 inch diameter tire.  I thought about going 15/52 but the next rear one down is 50 so I figured I have more options to up or down a tooth with 14/49

Fitted backbone.  Maybe still a bit of fine tuning but managed to cope the top and miter the other end with a decent fit on both ends.

A 14 you will be shifting all the time and you won't even feel the difference between 4th & 5th. I went from a 18 to a 17 and it felt like I had two 4th gears. RYCA claims the 18/52 is very close to stock. I like lower gearing for test n tune , think my final will be 18/51. The taller tire will make a big difference but these engine have the torque to pull it but you might run out of motor on a wot pull!

Keep in mind he's got that big wheel to put on there.  He's looking at ~ 16% difference in circumference.

Loving the progress.

I understand that but a 14 will render 5th gear as useless unless it gets some serious engine mods. But with a 21" rear wheel with good gearing , doing the ton should be easy !

Frame loop fit, tacked and welded.  I shrunk up a bit but not too bad, engine plate spread  it no problem.

Me either!  Actually I'm planning two tanks, one on each side of the backbone leaving the top half of the backbone exposed.

Start on the rear of the frame.  Fabbed a more portable bender to be able to bring the bender to the frame.  I also hoped it would let me put bends closer together but it's only marginally better than the stationary bender at that.
