JOG, I liked the bags, but didn't like the install. They were on the bike when I got it, installed on small stock supports. Because the bags had to sit down under the signals only a small bit of the support really backed them up. They were zip tied to the stock bracket where you see the holes drilled. Did fine really until a zip tie snapped. It never caused problems...you just know how I am...I want everything buttoned up. So when I decided to build brackets I just went ahead and got new bags.

Anyhow, tell me if you're interested and I will see how cheap I can get them to you. What's your ZIP?

And yes, the brackets keep them off the wheels fine. As MM said, brackets/supports are a must.

Funny that I threw out almost all the take offs from the savage while building the RYCA including the saddlebags that had roses on them , but I saved the brackets. Go figure. Even stranger that I knew where they were in that giant mess I call a garage ! It was meant to be , destiny ! I saved them , l didn't know why , I know now ! Still have a few things left.

Same here. I threw my old bags on the top of the tool cabinet probably never to be seen again...or thrown out next time I had a shop purge.

JOG, hope the bags are what you needed and a bit cleaner looking than the milk crate.  Wink

Im Usually a
Function over style
guy. But, as cheap, which is always a factor, as the milk crate idea was, and as much of a Cool Factor as it has, being wooden and made in November of 1954, it was just too ugly.
My family are aware of my usual decision making in such matters. They are surprised and happy that I put it back together and put the crate away..
