Easter is march 27, tax day april 15 and passover is 23 thru 30.
I don't have a problem with passover, but I go into hiding the week before the goober rape day.

So the show really is not on my agenda.  The best I can do is push up the time table so those that wanted to could go.  But right now, we are looking for weather forecasts before committing to any schedule.

no rain
warm & sunny

No pressure about the show. I'll be going to the show AND the savage ride both if possible.

The show is free admission, lots of beautiful custom bikes of most every genre.

You're right, there's plenty of things for sale that I can't afford.  Free admission, but $25 Tshirts Grin.

April 9, is always a birthday party in my family so I'd get in trouble for being gone that weekend anyway.    Smiley

So ???

going from the pictures    it looks likes   there are a lot of personal "Dream Bikes" at that show.

So if I ever put a GS500 motor on my Savage frame (with a bigger fuel tank) , then I'd fit right -in with the rest of the bikes there !  Wink

How far is it to Austin ?

From where?

If enough people wanted to go to that show, I could put together a ride that would get you close to Austin with a map to get to the show.  However, I would head northwest and do some quality riding.  Lime Creek Road, into the Balcones Canyonlands, Park 4 around Inks Lake, etc.  Those that wanted to do that instead could do so.

I don't do shows, I don't do rallys.  It's just who I am.

I think I"m becoming you....   Shocked

it'd be an honor to meet you Neal, I do really mean that.

I wish we had decent roads down here, if I can afford this I'll seriously consider joining you all.

You mis-spelled "horror".   Tongue
I am a weird old geezer.  I look like my avatar.  Cheesy

You aren't that far away, and could join up with people coming in from the east if that works out.

It would be great to meet you as well.. and that goes for everyone who would like to join us in the Spring for some riding good times!  Cheesy

Well ...  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

That Long-Awaited-Moment has finally arrived

I got my hands on a 2016 copy of "The OLD FARMER'S ALMANAC" today

SOUTHERN EDITION : including Weather Forecasts for 18 Regions of the United States

So , the middle TX (San Antonio-Oklahoma City) area forecast for April is below .
1st-8th     = Sunny and Warm
9th-15th   = t-storms
16th-20th = Sunny and Warm
21st-30th = showers

It seems we can have a 8 day ride or a 5 day ride ,  for me there is 2 days going to and fro each way.
I'm good with either period .   ride to   1st +   2nd --- from   8th +    9th
or                                        ride to 14th + 15th  --- from  21st + 22nd
my ride is right at 1000 miles one way.  Tongue

Gentlemen start you planning !  Grin

So it looks like the 15th thru the 20th is a go but we can wait till Feb. to finalize.
Last year we had similar weather with a storm before and after for the far eastern folk and clear weather for me.
Since I'm traveling by truck, weather isn't an issue till I get there.

this year i also have the option to travel there by truck, and if it's even damp leaving Garwood, I will
Last years drenching has not been forgotten, nor was it appreciated
Me and Springman have already proved my Ranger can handle 2 Savages (and well, in the Tx flatlands, though not so much in the NC area) and I'd bet a hat she'd pull a small trailer along too, if it comes to that
Heck, if I lived in a bigger city, I could rent a lowboy big enough for a buncha bikes, put the cap on the ranger, and haul a whole PASEL of riders and bikes  Grin

Art  ,   Huh

I'm beginning to think you really don't like riding in the rain  ???  Roll Eyes

I'm OK with the bigger dry spell at the first of April ...  Smiley

I can leave on the 8th and be home in time for birthday party stuff the evening of the 9th.  (I'll put the "Long-Leggs" back on the Savage).  Wink

Whatever gave you that idea, MM, it's almost as pleasant as sitting down too quickly and landing on a wayward testicle  Grin
honestly I'm never all that happy running the savage at 70+ MPH either, as my hands sometimes go numb
I need a throttle lock
and probably a Versy cam chain adjuster
I'm really getting tired of having to scrimp and save all the time  Sad

That is how ya finally get a head a little .   I made my Versey before I found out versey was doing them .  you got a buddy with a welder ?   If not plan on dropping by next time your in my neighborhood .  From a cooled off motor we can have ya ready to crank-up in two hours.
Procedure:
1.  Lay bike on its left side
2.  remove foot peg , clutch cable , and side cover
3.  tensioner out , and add extra tab .
4.  cut that spring so its not long enough to push too far anymore.
5.  re-install tensioner
6.  put on form-a-gasket and let it set 5 minutes
7.  put side cover back on finger tight
8.  put clutch cable , + foot peg on
9.  walk away for an hour,  go have lunch
10 Tighten side cover bolts and ride !  Wink

its easy
