Custom Suzuki Savage - Retro Standard
05/25/13 at 17:11:21
I'm helping my dad out by posting a pic of his bike here. He's making good use of his retirement by putting together his first custom bike. It's a standard based on a suzuki savage, since at 70+ years of age he wants a big single that's easier to start than his 1954 BSA B33. Modifications include: 19"x3.5" spoked rims, Honda front drum, raised rear, footpegs moved to normal position, custom control linkage, aftermarket seat and springs, handmade side panels, custom exhaust, rejetted carb, handmade "H" tanks badges for Hanford, our last name.

Wow! That's really nice. It really does look like an old British single.
Kudos to your dad.

Very nicely done! If you get a chance it would be nice to see a picture of the other side. How does it handle compared to a stock Savage? Looks like the steering would be quicker.

I don't believe it is. If it were the forward half would cover way too much of the front wheel versus the back side of the wheel would be way short. If he reversed it it would be out of proportion and not look right.
That little lip on the front is not an indicator. Check out the Triumph Tiger T100 fender. Looks just like it.

I haven't ridden it yet but raising the back end gave it the same rake as the BSA. I'll see if I can get more pix.

I am interested in close ups of the chain guard.
Whats that attached to the swing arm? Looks like something to protect the chain hitting the swing arm.
