Just wanted to say, "Thank You".  Fast easy service!

...almost too easy.  Now I'm eyeballing a few more items!

Thanks again,

I am interested in your 97mm piston kit and camshafts.  Can you please give me the specifications for the Stage 2 & 3 cams (i.e. valve timing, total lift & TDC lift).  Why do you recommend the spring kit for off-road only?  How do I order and pay for these items?  How do you ship?

If you go back to page 1 of this thread you will see a list of Performance parts, select the one for Camshafts and that will take you to the spec's.
The  Spring kit is made for extremely high lift cam profiles, which mine are not.  The springs in the kit will work in the LS650 but were made for the DR650 high lift cams for 1990-1995 model years.  The cam core is the same as ours but the profile is quite different.
I am making the Stage 3 cam only now.  It works very well with the natural engine characteristics.  The Stage 2 pushed the power too high in the rpm range to be useful for most of our riding, which is in the low and mid range.
I have both the 97mm piston and 94mm pistons.  95% of the power gain is due to the increase in Compression from 8.5:1 to 10.5:1, with only a fraction from the increase in cylinder size from 650 to 695cc.  Using the 94 also saves $$ by not having to bore the cylinder, just a good hone is needed.
Payment is usually by PayPal, made to savage.s40@gmail.com.
I can email you an invoice if you prefer using a credit or debit card.
I also accept cash or checks as well.

Cost of the Stage 3 cam is $299 with your cam core in exchange.
If you need the Stage 3 cam before removing your old cam, in order to be able to ride while waiting for the new one, then a $100 refundable deposit is required, and will be refunded upon my receipt of your cam core.

** Current turn around time for a new cam to be manufactured is 5-6 weeks.  At times I have a few in stock, but not always.
I have 3 being made now and they should be ready in about 2 weeks.  One of those is already paid for by another member, so 2 possible remaining.  They do not last very long so if you want one then you need to process payment and you will be next on the list to receive one.

I ship USPS Priority 2-3 day, fully insured, and shipping cost is included in the price.

If I missed something or you have other questions just holler.

Michael

I thinks I will start with the 97 mm oversize piston.  I will eMail you at your gmail address and provide you with my shipping info.  Send me a reply with the full cost including shipping and then I will do the PayPal thing.  I have an account but I don't think I ever used it.  If I get screwed up I will let you know.

Thanks, Mike

Looks like I might not need to bore my cylinder , so I'm looking at a cam , carb, and piston, maybe the chain tensioner. ,if I need to decide between the carb and the cam what would be the best choice

I also wanted to ask if rockers need to be changed when you install a new cam , like the lifters on a car?

If you need to make that choice then go with the cam first.  Your engine will already be disassembled so make the cam switch, you can always upgrade the carb later and not have to dig back into the engine.  Just makes sense.

If your rockers show signs of wear then change them out.
If not, then you are good.
