When are you going to get your nitrided chains? I might be interested in one. Haven't decided for sure yet.

I do have a cylinder head, but it need some work.  One of the cam bearing surfaces need a little attention; the rockers need to be replaced.
There is no camshaft with it.  I might have another stock cam available
But know for sure yet.
I have a good piston with its rings, but I have not checked to see if the rings are usable... They SEEM good.

Hey Lance,
What cam would you recommend for a stock motor with a 40mm Flatslide Mikuni (with K+N Pod), and a RYCA long muffler?
Not touching the piston/cylinder for now, but I'll do a high compression 97mm eventually.
My idea of a good time is a bike that pulls from 2K RPMs and has a wide power band. Don't love revving the nuts of the motor.
thanks,
-Armen

I make just the Stage 3 Camshaft now, and as stated it is a middle of the road design that takes advantage of a large single cylinder engine, and the type of power it makes.  The peak torque happens around 4500 rpm and the peak power at about 5500 rpm.  Power and torque does not stop there but peaks out at those levels.  You will feel the effects of this camshaft shortly after you come off idle, when compared to the stock camshaft.  I think this is ideal for the LS650 engine.
For a piston, I favor the 94mm High Compression piston we now have available.  You get all of the benefits from the higher compression but do not need to bore your cylinder, and thus save a good bit of money.  Keep in mind that with the 97mm piston, you gain 42cc in engine volume, which is a minor effect compared to the rise in compression ratio from 8.5:1 to 10.5:1.

Thanks Lance,
I'm tracking down a core cam now. Have a complete 97mm top end with the cylinder all bored/honed/nitrided/fondled. I'll wait til I have the bike running a while til I do that.
Ever play with the cam timing? Slot the holes in the cam sprocket and dial in the timing?
thanks,
-Armen

Nope, never needed to mess with the cam timing, it works pretty good as is.
If you wanna tweak the timing you could just play with the cam chain on the gear.

Not in stock, your cam core is needed.
I did have a few earlier this year but they are gone now.
I am waiting on the return of cam cores.
