Scrambler exhaust heat

I love the scrambler exhaust but am leery of the small heat shield.  Am I looking at that right? It seems like a burn risk.

If not for you, then definitely for a passenger.
& pricey! $300 for a header, & I think stainless.

For these ryca kits: can the stock front fender be cut and used? And how about the rear fenders I see every so often? I see you guys have some for sale on your website too. Are all the rear fender options for conversions other than the cs-1? I'd be interested in keeping my front fender and cutting it down a little over dishing out for a new one; the back fender is for the 15" wheel so I assume it'd have to get a new one if I wanted to run one?

Hi MPFit, You probably won't get a response from the Ryca guys here.  I've emailed with Casey.  He's very helpful.  You can cut the stock front fender.  There's plenty of folks that have.  I don't think there is a rear for the CS-1, it would be listed in the parts section for CS-1 on Ryca's site.  Maybe one for the scrambler version would work.  I'd check with them.  I made a hugger style for mine from aluminum.

Hi folks,
I'm dying to make the CS-1 conversion, however I live in Ontario, Canada. Has anyone had any experience with custom fees, shipping costs and taxes, for parts or even the entire kit conversion?

If this is going to run me an extra $1000, then I will be pursuing other options. Got any ideas?

Has anyone modified this Ryca Sportster fairing http://shop.rycamotors.com/sportster_fairing.html
to fit our LS650s yet? Looks like would be easy mod, the price is pretty good & I think would go great for cafe style (& give a lil air pocket @ "HIGH" speeds LOL Wink!

Buck,  I have this muffler and just started a RYCA build.  How does it sound?

In response to randyradio's post just above:

I originally posted regarding the EMGO 26 incher to a Rubber Side Down thread called 'Exhaust help', but that got moderator-pushed to The Cafe because of strong feelings expressed one way or the other regarding exhaust noise.

So, I'll say with caution that I find the EMGO 26" Universal Megaphone a definite improvement regarding the quality and quantity of sound emitted. I find the exhaust note to be deeper and less intense. Important to me is that my neighbors are appreciative of the change from the original kit muffler.

Another big plus to me is that the Universal Megaphone muffler has a mechanical baffle design that is not almost-straight-through as with the original Shorty. The baffle is not removable. This means no messy fiberglass re-packing is necessary or even possible. This means less maintenance and therefore more riding (7K miles on the kit, 24K on the bike). Smiley
