I have a feeling the copper will be a little too soft over time & vibes, and I'll be re-fabbing with stronger metal someday. May chrome those re-do supports.  Do you have the inside gouge at a plating shop?

You make me a set and I will chrome them both for $10+shipping or if you can get them to me fast enough i can return them to you during the drive next month 8)

Cool!  Got to shop for some stout tubing tomorrow.

The beetle rocks!

A long time ago, I worked for a zinc plater (yes, cyanide) and ran his E-Nickel line for several months.  I nickeled a 1911 45 auto that turned out spectacular.

yea it's tough to beat bright nickel coating. I am not a fan of zinc plating in any form. The way I see it is if the odor can eat the fillings out of your teeth then it is not for me. Then again I am lucky where I work I am in a lab clean room if you will, but outside the room is a nasty environment.

The bug was a lot of fun. I let it go two years ago. A guy called Me from Kansas he was shipping out to Iraq in a few weeks and saw my bug on the internet. He wanted to buy a bug and asked me to paint it. After a log conversation I offered him mine so he could drive it before he left just in case he didn’t make it back. I didn’t really want to get rid of it but seeing how I am home for good he needed it more than me. 8)

Mike,

If I fabricate a header with reverse cone would you be able to plate it?  Cost?
Thanks

Can't keep the ice cream in that reverse cone - keeps falling out the bottom...

Sorry for the delay.  The coatings I am interested in are chrome and nickle.  A reverse cone  is one long cone shape expanding out with another short cone going back down.

$15-30 depending on size, materal and what has to be masked.  8) Less if you make one and I like it and make me one.  Grin8) 8)

if I were to do it I would go it with Sermatel W on any Exhaust component it is far more stable will not break down or flake does not discolor or blue. With glass beading it looks like polished aluminum because it is. I finished these headers for my 1970 GMC C10 and 1969 Beetle today 6/4/05. They are Sermateled.

I am planing on doing my bike pipe next.  8)

Really very very nice. Can it be done in a color, like say black?

Being a aluminum base product it really can only be one color. 8)
