Now that's a sentence worthy of deeper consideration and discussion.

Is it what they want and believe possible?......

Let's look at these $hithole countries people are fleeing and ask that question. Is it (meaning safety and prosperity) what they want? I'd have to say yes to that question, who wouldn't want that.

Do they believe it possible meaning is it possible in their country to achieve that? I'd have to say no. Their society is stuck and can't move forward, only backwards. If the US were not here, they'd have no hope.

In modern times, has their been a nation in what we'll call $hithole status, rise above? If so, how did they do it? What role did religion play?

The statement "I want a battleship" while written in a capacity to implement a small degree of levity is also an acknowledgement that the sentence"Not everyone Wants a battleship" makes sense to me personally.

The statement "I want a battleship" is not intended to evade, dodge, divert or otherwise attempt to not acknowledge the sentence "Not everyone Wants a battleship" by any means. It clearly makes its intended point.

What timeframe do you consider "modern times"?

What classifies a $hithole country that is within the timeframe?

What do you consider "rise above"? Above what? Economic GDP, birth mortality rates etc?

Maybe a way to say it is it went from being a place you'd never consider to visit on vacation to a place you would have no fear of visiting.
