Well

I've got my first "DATES" conflict for the year.   Embarrassed

I've got a new position with my other group .  I'm still an Officer , but now its Road Captain .   So , I'm kinda obligated to lead the major rides of the year.    One of them is our National Rally East in  Lewisburg , WV.
The good part is : its not that far from the Dragon , the bad news is its 20-24 June .

Any of you fellers want to do a Day ride up into W.V.

The June weekend is not etched in stone....it can be moved either way if it would make it possible for you to go to the Dragon.

(Can you get away 2 weekends in a row if we moved it a week earlier?)

If the road gets unruly and swats one of the riders down... do you order the road to straighten up and fly right?   Huh   Grin

(MM talking to his rider group after taking over as Ride Captain)

OK guys, listen up -- new road rules.

There is one and only one road rule -- KEEP UP !!!!

And carry a map on your body (to be able to find your way back to camp) in case you fail to keep up ....

Versey : If the road gets unruly and swats one of the riders down.

Na.  It means I'm in trouble for causing the Rider to mistreat the Road  Embarrassed

The main thing is these folks are hard to get started.    To better understand ....
OldFeller has had me in Road Captain training for several years now.   So basically I'm sposed to do for our local CMA group what OldFeller does for Suzuki Savage .    Putting a Ride together is easy , Rallying the troops not-so-much.  Roll Eyes

How about we look at the Long-Range-Weather , to see if   the 13th-18th - or - 27st-1st   , has better weather ?

I'm going to work on that next .  Wink

Oh that's easy, take off your trunk and replace it with a grill.
fire it up (the grill) and throw on some hot links and brats and they'll follow you anywhere.  You'll even pick a few strays.   Cool

It is too far out to do get a weather prediction for June - but you can look at the historical averages.  June appears to be OK all month - in the first week or two you could get temps down in the 50's overnight - but the daytime temps are in the high 70's.  After the second week the temps are up in the 60's at night and 80's in the daytime.  The rain is always a risk......and you can't get a good idea on that until a few days before we leave.

http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/robbinsville-nc/28771/month/12174_pc?monyr=6...

My schedule is flexible, and if a planned weekend were to prove to be really wet - I could move my schedule to the next dry weekend.  An occasional spotty shower is no big deal and is to be expected - but a forecast for a 3 day rainout and I am likely to stay home.

I can tell you that I "fell" for one of MMRanch's Road Captain moves.  I was on the Dragon and I was catching up to MM.....and then as I was just about to move in for the pass we came up on some slower traffic......MM raised his left hand/arm just like the commander of the Cavalry does when he wants them all to stop - and I fell for it and let off the throttle and slowed down.

That left hand/arm of MM's sure does carry some authority! Wink

Any time in June should be good for me. May is where I tend to get a little stacked up.

Dave ,  I remember that .

I just saw the RRB (rolling road block) around some curves lined-up just right before you closed the gap between us .  Grin

But I knew you were right on my trail and if I let off the throttle for even a second then I'd be following you .   And I'm not sure I'd be keeping up as sure as you were.   You know my Savage can only go-so-fast  , if I'd been going any faster then I'd have to start using the breaks to slow down for the corners.
