I think that list of the 10 top rides represents several different riding styles, and reason for appeal. Obviously the Tail of the Dragon is for the fun of the twisties....several others more likely for scenery.
My wife and I hauled a bike up to Michigan a couple summers ago and we rode around the Traverse City area in Michigan, including the Cherry grove areas to the north. We rode the Tunnel of Trees, and it is worth riding if you are in the area - I am not sure if it would be worth traveling more than a few hours to go ride it. The road passes along the edge of Lake Michigan, and it does offer some pretty scenery and a lot of touristy little towns, lots of shops with crafts, some quirky shops, and restaurants along the way. There are trees in several sections between towns....never much of a tunnel, and the traveling speed has to kept fairly slow as the sand tends to wash into the roadway when it rains, and several times we had to alter the path in a corner to avoid turning when we found a patch of sand in the middle of a corner. There is a really cool Polish Restaurant called "Legs" on the north end of the Tunnel of Trees......it was a great place to see as they have an excellent view of the lake, the restaurant is very artsy, and the food was really tasty.
The Tunnel of Trees is a nice double up, cruising around, looking at Lake Michigan scenery, and stopping at small towns to shop and eat ice cream.
