Retro questions
05/06/15 at 11:05:48

Hi everyone. I was just checking the bike builds and I am a bit of a sucker for retro fenders and I was curious if anyone knew where to get them for a savage OR the aftermarket/stock fenders of other bikes that will fit as well.

Well I see you found him, but he didn't send you where he sent me, so I googled 'Indian style custom fenders, nad found the site he linked me
http://www.oldinc.com/oldysin.htm
Of course fabbing is necessary to mount them, but I hope that helps

Yeh WD's builds are what you are looking for:
http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?num=1380562345
or this retro build takes the cake IMHO:
http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?num=1369527081

A list of Suzuki builds are listed in the "important topics" box at the top of this forum. Hell here's a link anyway:

Pretty much any rear fender will work as once you get rid of the stock one, there isn't really anything to get in the way of the new one Shocked

You CAN'T Summon WD. Like Bigfoot, he appears when it suits him.
Or, go sit on his bike,,  yeah, that's a great way to get him to come out.

Hah I know right Lol. That website did help out alot. At least I will beable to get proper dimensions to need minimal modifications to bolt on. being I lack facilities because its not the 1950's and banks are evil Lol. there is a customs shop 3 miles from here so I imagine thats where I will take it to be done. My stepfather does laser engravings so I will probably get work done by him too for etched metals

..You know what I never thought of that. I could do that easily but id be limited to hammering it out. rustic but it would have a unique look to it

planishing hammer

Unless you have metal working experience you're looking at a really serious task. I prefer metal to aluminum.
Start with a piece of heavy paper. See what happens when you try to put a radius on the edges of a curved flat piece. Without an English wheel or planishing hammer and brazing torch I can't see how it can be done.

I'm talking about making brackets to mount fenders, not fabbing fenders, that'd be a REAL pain in the hump

It wont be too hard per say. I get seriously involved with small work. My issue would be getting the metal heated up to get it hammered out properly. I done it quite a bit in the past for the fun of it when I has access to an acetylene torch. I just cant say it will be perfect givin it would have obvious hammer markings. (if I used iron or steel) as for aluminum I could just bend that by hand and shave it down as I go.
