nope same route
https://maps.google.com/
13 hours riding, fml, that's a daunting prospect
longer that that, realy, cause I don't like pushing the S40 over 70 or so
the ninja will happily buzz along at 80-100, but not at all sure about an 800 mile ride on it  Grin

yeah that's what turned me off the idea to begin with
ny situation for doing the trip is a bit better now, but still''''
I have an 06 Ninja 500 R, nice bike for higher speed runs, takes a bit of getting used to though
Lookks like this one

Art Webb:

For that kind of distance....you might consider hauling your bike if you can.  It sure would make the trip much easier as you won't be all worn out when you arrive.

Several of the fellows would haul their bikes (Lancer, Oldfellar, Al from NH)....and me!  I really get no satisfaction form riding on the Interstates for hours on end - the car is far more comfortable for those long sections of interstate.

WE ARE 48 DAYS OUT AND COUNTING

The 2014 Spring trip starts June 18th and runs through June 25th

The trip contains two sections, first section is MM's farm and the second section is the Blue Ridge Motorcycle Campground.

Google map/directions location for MM's farm  is  219 M and M Ranch road, Lynchburg Tn 37352

Wednesday June 18th, Oldfeller arrives at MM's and helps set up tent top, etc.
Thursday, June 19th, road trips and shooting
Friday, June 20th, Jack Daniels whiskey sipping tour
Saturday, June 21st, Bike Rally day
Sunday, June 22nd, break camp and head towards Blue Ridge Campground

http://www.blueridgemotorcyclecamp.com/

Monday-Wednesday June 23-25, ride the neat roads Dave found then find your way on home.

Since there are no rooms to reserve ('cept for those going to the Blue Ridge and those you reserve yourselves) we don't need to be doing a lot of extra planning beyond what we got right here.

You show up for what parts you like and you leave when the itch strikes you ....

Use the links above and check the weather and see just how well the trip weather gods are smiling at us so strongly, approvingly.

Don't get all slap happy though, the weather tends to drift a day over to one side about one day per week as we get closer and closer, with the two week out predictions being pretty much stable and spot on beyond that 2 week point.

Free, get your money back full cancellations
at Blue Ridge can take place at 2 weeks out and longer, with "cost you one day" cancellations being possible until 3-4 days out.

Lancer needs to talk to us a bit, since he was holding the reservation for Cabin #4, the goodest bestest of the cabins since it can hold 4 people (2 on the beds, two on the floor).

The other TBD guys need to firm up their plans and talk to us.

The balance of power has shifted........I am now the holder of the Cabin 4 reservation! Grin

As of now.....I am the only occupant.  So let me know who need a room!

I don't like buzzing interstates either, but my car has no hitch for a trailer, and my motos are far more reliable (I have a pushrod tapping and a flashing check engine light in the car, I'm good with driving it locally because my town is dinky, but no way I would trust her for a road trip)
I'm probably dumb for even considering doing this  Grin
maybe I should check with a rental place (NOT UHAUL or any of those with per mile charges) and see what it would cost to rent a cargo van  Grin

Doody814 says he's showing up at MM's on Saturday.

Can't find his way over here to tell anybody.

He's a Rubberside Down newbie.

Dave, you still have a room ?    Roll Eyes

Normally , I'm OK with a tent space ... but ... I'm OK with pitching in on a cabin too.   If somebody has back probles and needs a bed let them have it.

Wife and I have the cabin next door #5 I believe it is.

We have it for sun-wed so we are good to go.

Does anyone remember meal days? Was it just fri-sun?

We are thinking on packing a cooler for times when we don't eat out or just for snackin' in the evenin', I have a VERY large one. Grin

When I have been there they served something fairly major every weekday meal, breakfast was breakfast, lunch was burgers/dogs, dinner was choice of entre and two veggies and dessert but we were rarely there but for like breakfast and mebbe dinner.

Saturday was normal, Sunday breakfast got sorta light because the crowd is leaving, biscuits and gravy sorta stuff.   I can't speak for Sunday lunch or dinner, never been there then.  Dave can give more info as he was there and eating there more recently.

Check that weather !!!!    Miracles of long term forecasting !!!!   Wink

Sunny and average daily temperatures for the season ......

Now I got a general sort of question ....

Now that you guys know Blue Ridge fairly well, would you ever really want to go back to stay at the Dragon Lodge?   What at the Dragon Lodge is really worth 4x the hassles and twice the price per bed?

And by this I mean something you can't get enough of while stopping by there going in or going out or during a BBQ lunch during a day sweep (gots to have some good Dragon BBQ on every trip, right?)

Is it the major 2 hour trip to go somewhere else to get something to eat apart from cafe fair?   The mass of drunk crotch rocketeers bragging at the campfire every night?

The only thing I find to really miss is the lonely ghostly sound of the chainsaws running late at night after they get the dogs out and finally find that guy they've been looking for all afternoon.

Wink

I'd rather hear whoot owls and quiet up at Blue Ridge .....

MM.....Yes you can be my cabin mate in #4.  We will have to keep an eye on those neighbors in #5 however.

The Blueridge meals are somewhat based on occupancy.  On Mon-Wed they sometimes don't have enough folks to justify cooking.  Friday and Saturday are almost gauranteed.  We will be there pretty much in the peak season.....so chances are good we will get breakfast and dinner.

old_rider.  This is not the place to be talking about your Very Large One.  I think that belongs in the Tall Tale section. Shocked

Dragon Inn.  Yeah......I would stay there a night or two.  Sure it is a bit of a circus - but getting to ride the Dragon first thing in the morning and then again on the way home is a nice benefit of staying there.  It is not restful or peaceful.....but it is entertaining!  The BlueRidge is more peaceful and laid back, and a better bargain.
