Boardtrack  Savage

In the July issue of Cycle Source magazine they have a feature on a boardtracker from Brooklyn,NY. That issue is not online yet. I found an issue at Barnes & Nobles. He used a 2003 Savage and only has $1400 in it. Some neat ideas, wood handle to decompress, left foot shifter works the front brake, hand shift with clutch on shifter. Not something I would want to ride but I like seeing what others are building. You never know where that next idea of yours will come from.  Carl

Yep Sero! Like the Chevy circa 1978-1985 Malibu, The 1980's/1990's Ford Mustang, and a few other classics, our "mild mannered beast" lends itself to many styles and configurations.

Wether we love or hate the different incarnations I welcome all of them. The more our machine is used as a base for various creations the more recoginition and hopefully more goodies from vendors!

Keep hope alive ZAR... the bike is a hit in Europe, tons of accessories if you know where to look. Stateside, the first one I ever saw is the one that i bought in 1998, and still don't see very many of them.

That's half the fun of owning an oddball, forces us to get creative repurposing other items.

As for the board track bike...  Huh I can appreciate the workmanship.

I can admire the workmanship on it,  but it's defiantly not for me.  Kinda looks like someone modified a mountain bike to put a motorcycle engine on it. Tongue

I agree WD....I've always been a fan of the Brit bikes,Trumpets,Beezers,Nortons and especially the big-bore singles. That's what drew me to the Savage

If you look at pics of the early Harleys...the  JD models for example...you see this bike has come full circle in styling.

Looks like a shortened version of the 1915 Henderson single i had for awhile. Or a circa 1909 HD. My 1929 JD looked a whole lot more modern than that... Grin

You're right WD...I was picturing the 1910 era HD's but my mind was thinking later years models. Any way you slice it it's a radical departure from most modern customs.....and that's not really a bad thing!!!

Kinda reminds me of a Speedway bike they race on an 1/8 mile track.   Speedway is a cool style of flat dirt racing where the bike never hooks up; i.e., the equivalent of drift racing in cars.   The bikes are almost always big single brits.

Yea it looks more like a true Boardtrack then just a modified LS650, might be fun on a wooden track but I wouldn't want to ride it on the street  Grin
