Speedometer Light

Can some one tell me what the number is for the speedo light bulb? I have the Suzuki p/n but I'm looking for a number the guys at the local parts house would understand. Also, how hard is it to replace the bulb and any tips or tricks to simplify the job.

Thanks!
Larry

Suzuki part number:  09471-12103

I think they are all 12V  3W and are the little push-in types commonly used in car dashboards, etc.   Should available at AutoZone, or any other automotive store.

Gonna hafta pull the tank, I havent looked at those lites, but I doubt theyre hard to get to or find replacements for,
YOull be ahead to drain the tank,( YOure gonna need to turn it upside down to get to the underside of the speedo, so, empty it or its gonna leak) or ride till its almost empty, then drain it, if you have more gas in it than you can get in your handy dandy gas can, Pop the line off the carb, set a can on something & drain into it using prime, Swinging the petcock past the frame isnt always easy, some say its not even possible, you may have to pull it,I slap the tank sideways,,& get it past, but it scrapes paint,

Having replaced mine with LEDs, I can tell you the common size is a T5 wedge bulb. I replaced mine with brighter, white LEDs. Obviously 12 volt.

It's the same difficulty as replacing christmas lights.

Sorry to bring up an obviously dead thread, but...

is it just a simple swap from the incandescent lamp to led, ie no changing wires/ adding resistors or anything.

I ask because I'm sick of my dim light at night...

thanks, and again sorry.

There's no problem that a full tank of gas and a sunny day can't fix!

you'll probably need to remove the speedo, look at the thread I made and you can see the bulb on the bottom of the speedo

Yea I replaced the original bulbs with LED's no issues, they make direct swap ones I had some lying around and just added resistors and hard wired them.

My speedo light has been out so long I forgot it had one!  I had been considering doing an "upgrade" where I drill a hole in the speedo casing and stick an LED through.

It would have been embarrasing when somebody said "Um, why didn't you just replace the bulb that's there?"  Grin

Removing the tank only takes maybe 5 minutes and if you have the raptor it slides right off. The trick is to remove the rubber bushings from where the tank bolts to the frame.  The 12 watt 3 volt bulb cost maybe a couple of dollars and it pops right in. I just replaced mine and I got the bulb at Auto Zone. I took the glass off my speedo and painted the 60 mph mark as well as the needle with day glo paint and at night it makes it alot easier to see
