Title: Speedometer Light Post by ZAR on 06/10/12 at 08:12:08 Can some one tell me what the number is for the speedo light bulb? I have the Suzuki p/n but I'm looking for a number the guys at the local parts house would understand. Also, how hard is it to replace the bulb and any tips or tricks to simplify the job. Thanks! Title: Re: Speedometer Light Post by 360k+ on 06/10/12 at 08:23:17 Suzuki part number: 09471-12103 I think they are all 12V 3W and are the little push-in types commonly used in car dashboards, etc. Should available at AutoZone, or any other automotive store. |

Having replaced mine with LEDs, I can tell you the common size is a T5 wedge bulb. I replaced mine with brighter, white LEDs. Obviously 12 volt. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-T5-WHITE-SMD-DASHBOARD-LED-BULBS-LIGHT-79-85-86-2721-/261041141978?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cc743b8da&vxp=mtr It's the same difficulty as replacing christmas lights. |
Title: Re: Speedometer Light Post by damiancds on 03/22/14 at 17:30:09 Sorry to bring up an obviously dead thread, but... is it just a simple swap from the incandescent lamp to led, ie no changing wires/ adding resistors or anything. I ask because I'm sick of my dim light at night... thanks, and again sorry. |

Title: Re: Speedometer Light Post by Yoshi on 03/23/14 at 09:25:40 you'll probably need to remove the speedo, look at the thread I made and you can see the bulb on the bottom of the speedo http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?num=1392577577 |
Title: Re: Speedometer Light Post by pgambr on 03/23/14 at 14:54:22 Incidentally, your thread very well done. I fixed mine about a week before you posted it. |
Title: Re: Speedometer Light Post by ToesNose on 03/24/14 at 04:35:43 Yea I replaced the original bulbs with LED's no issues, they make direct swap ones I had some lying around and just added resistors and hard wired them. |
Title: Re: Speedometer Light Post by runwyrlph aka limpaway on 03/27/14 at 18:14:09 My speedo light has been out so long I forgot it had one! I had been considering doing an "upgrade" where I drill a hole in the speedo casing and stick an LED through. It would have been embarrasing when somebody said "Um, why didn't you just replace the bulb that's there?" ;D |
Title: Re: Speedometer Light Post by stinger on 03/28/14 at 22:30:03 Removing the tank only takes maybe 5 minutes and if you have the raptor it slides right off. The trick is to remove the rubber bushings from where the tank bolts to the frame. The 12 watt 3 volt bulb cost maybe a couple of dollars and it pops right in. I just replaced mine and I got the bulb at Auto Zone. I took the glass off my speedo and painted the 60 mph mark as well as the needle with day glo paint and at night it makes it alot easier to see |
