Oops! Blew the baffle out of my Jardine!
04/19/12 at 12:31:49
On the way home from work last night, rounding a corner accelerating from 60 km/h up to 90 km/h heard a muffled "puh" and then all of a sudden bike was SUPER loud!
Happened on a corner with super soft gravel shoulders and in rush hour traffic so I rode home.
Found it on the way back in this morning, in good shape on shoulder about 6" off pavement.
Seems the 2 rivets I had used to hold it in place after the "tuned chamber" mod had failed.

Any ideas on a better rivet? I had used standard aluminum rivets.
Or is this a case of , use the standard rivets but add a baffle check to regular walk around?

Think I'd prefer either aircraft grade rivets or stainless steel ones.I'd also make that part of my daily pre-trip inspection to make sure the rivets are holding!

yep, use steel next time
aluminum rivets just don't get it on holding a baffle in a muffler tube

I'll try steel riveted and if they fail, will drill 2 more holes and try 4 rivets.
