Changing fork oil..

How do I go about this. The bike has 12xxx miles on it. Idk if the fluid needs to be drained or replaced. Or if I should just leave it be.

I think I changed  mine at about 16k...  need it or not...

.. but I just met up with ol' friend Lupo,.. and next change I'm goin' with ATF tranny fluid...
It's a hydraulic fluid, and very consistently pure... much more so than "fork oil"... (works out to 13wt, I believe)..
It will give, slightly faster rebound.. and with roads being what they are nowadays... that might be good...
I also have about 1/4" of washers on top of my springs to decrease sag in the forks... goes well with the ATF...
Lupo,... is a local Savage rider, that can ride like a M'rF'r... (he scares me)..
.. and a dedicated Guzzi rider, that has become addicted to our humble Savage...
He's fast... did I mention that?,.. He's very fast!...

Anyway,... when someone smokes yer' a$$...  you listen...
Just thought I'd share...

So,... fresh fluids can't hurt...  just thought I'd mention,... I'm goin' with ATF tranny fluid on my next change...

Wink.. (may not be right,.. but I go with people that know more than me)...

But if all you wanted to do is change the oil, take the caps off and flip the fork upside down.  removing from bike optional.

I used  ATF when I drained the oil to do the fork mod for my RYCA.
