LOL JOG, like all of a sudden sanity has anything to do with bureaucracy.
I have personally seen federal employees force a farmer to make changes just because THEY thought it was a good idea.  In this case rules had changed (more lenient) but the stricter rules were to be enforced until the farmer was found to be in violation of the rules, once found in violation, they could appeal and magically the new more lenient rules could be applied.  

It was really an abuse of power by the field level people, but I am sure that would NEVER happen anywhere else, right?

...I'm sure glad I live a thousand miles north of "no big deal."

I along with the rest am deeply saddened and get depressed over the oil spill.

I was born and raised in Panama City Beach Florida. I learned to swim in the Gulf Of Mexico. I at one time lived right across the street from the beach. To know what it feels like to not only swim in the Gulf, but to build sand castles and hear as well as feel  the snow white sand as it surrounds your toes when you walk thru it, is a feeling like none other.
The beaches are truly if not The World's most Beautiful, are right up there with the ones that are considered to be.
With all  my heart I can only hope that these waters as well as the marine life is restored back to the way they were before their ever was a drop of oil spilled. Yet I have to face reality and know that is something that never may be.
It will take time and possibly years to know not only how the oil has effected the enviroment but the dispersant as well.

My heart goes out to all the men and women who have been effected by this disaster.
To the many that are working to clean up the mess I wish I could hug each and everyone of you.
I don't have a magic wand I can wave nor a degree in engineering. I don't have the solution that will stop this from continuing to flow up from the bottom of the Gulf.
What I do have are my memories of times spent at the beach, eating the wonderful seafood and building those sand castles.
I only hope that someday I may again experience those memories or that my Grandchildren have an experience in life that leaves them with the fond, loving memories the Gulf left with me.
I hope with all my heart this spill is contained soon.
I refuse to let the bad that is being experienced now be my last memory of those wonderful times. Yet I won't put blinders on nor turn my back on what is happening their either.
