drag bar question
07/22/05 at 06:56:41

In others opinion: which are the better bars for the savage?  Will they fit the savage?

1) http://www.elvisplace.com/html/parts/list.jsp?category=Handlebars&st=14&
Part number 4673, says it has dimples, 32.5 inches wide, and chrome; $39

2)http://www.parts123.com/PartFrame.asp?ZTM=cadegfea&GHOME=www.jirehcycles.com&...
Part number 50-6, no dimples, 26 inches wide, chrome PLATED; $15.95

thanks!

Also if anyone has drag bars on their bike, could you share a photo and how you like them?

Don't buy the dimpled bars. Thy are slightly oval in the dimpled section and your controls are round. HD controls fit the dimpled bars, Savage controls require some clearancing to fit the dimpled bars. FWIW, the only brands of bars worth buying are K&N, Flanders, and Kromewerks. The rest are Taiwanese knockoffs, and the chrome is soft, plus the base metal isn't good steel like the brands I listed. I've been in the industry off and on for 15 years.

I sell EMGO brand bars at work. One good bump and they'll bend.  Angry So  sell people my $10-20 HD take-offs instead. At least they are steel or T6 extruded aluminum.

I use to have drag bars, but I like the Sporster bars I have now better.  I think they look and steer much better (they are a little wider).   The bars are made by Flanders and they are dimpled, but I had no problem fitting everything.  I don't know how cheaper bars would be though.

im looking for the exact style bars on the new S40, as suggested! Does anyone know where i can order those bars? also looked for flanders bars and found these:

seem pretty reasonable. how do you think these would work?
