Hey everyone, I just got my savage 2 weeks ago and love riding it around town.

I live in the Seattle area and would like to know if there is a place where I can take my bike to get a tune up.  I am not mechincally savvy so even changing the oil somewhat scares me.

I'd like to get everything checked out and tuned up and want to see if there is aplace near Redmond.

Hi there,

I live in NC so I cannot help there, but clymers sells a book for the savage.  I ordered mine from barnes and noble.  The book has pre ride checks and general maintenence.

Best wishes!

Im sure any motorcycle place could do it.   I think you could handle the oil change if u have ever done one with a car before.

Check this link for the oil change.

I had a Savage from Feb 1998 until yesterday (Saturday) morning when my stepson picked it up. Call me at the shop (Bent Bike in Auburn) and I'll walk you through the oil change, spark plug, air filter, etc. Ask for Jeff. I'm about an hour from you, so, push come to shove, you could ride it to Puyallup and I'll take you through it at my place.

Thx WD, I might take you up on that offer to call!  I do have the clymer manual so I will study up on how to do these things and know where certain items are before giving you a call.

Don't want to waste your time and all.

I just bought an 87 Savage last Friday.  What a blast!!  Got it back from inspection today, and immediately did my own oil change AND lifted my seat -- both things I saw on these posts over the past several days.  Thanks so much to all you experienced ones sharing your knowledge of these great bikes!

If you have suggestions for newbies that haven't been shared on recent posts, let me know.

Thanks again!

Okay for the "local" Suzuki shops: Puyallup is cars/suvs ONLY. Tacoma Motorsports is tolerable. RMC bites. Aurora is good. Hinshaws bites. Eastside bites. The Olympia shop is tolerable.

As far as western washington dealerships are concerned, these are "evil little bikes that don't really exist". Service manager at Hinshaw's Honda/KTM/Polaris/Suzuki told me that one.

Feel free to give me a holler. It's no big deal, and, I guarantee you my prices are better on parts AND labor. Should run about $35, including the liter of Diet Coke. I don't drink beer anymore, and for teaching you to do your own maintenance and "stick it" to the dealer...
