Soot on the external top head

The other day disassembling the tank to adjust valves, I noticed all around the inlet valves cover a black soot.
I do not understand how this combustion soot can exit the chamber and be on the external engine surface.  Any similar thing happened to you ?  Tx Augusto.

I have a guess....unless you've seen anything leaking on the engine....

Your valve cover had a small weeping leak, and that is just road dirt stuck in the oil.  Not to worry, unless you have other symptoms.

Tx Greg , but the funny thing is that is really soot, not road dirt.  There is no oil on the surface , below the soot, that can grab it.
I believe that it's coming out from the inlet valve that doesen't close properly and let some combustion gas leave the chamber.  But I can't understand how this soot can leave the cylinder head cover, if its coming from the valve leaking.  The head cover is externally clean from oil. I do not understand it.  Could come out from the spark??  Or any other place??  Augusto.
