SOMETHING I'VE FOUND THAT MAY HELP YOU OUT. ON MOST BIKE AFTER YOU SHUT THEM DOWN TO CHECK THE OIL, SAY AFTER AN OIL CHANGE, IT WILL TAKE ABOUT 2 OR 3 MINUTES BEFORE YOU'LL GET AN ACCURATE READING. SO I'M THINKING THAT, IN REVERSE, IT WOULD TAKE ABOUT 2 OR 3 MINUTES TO GET THE OIL CIRCULATING PROPERLY.

Well, the difference is that the oil is pressure feed and mostly gravity return, so it will take less time for oil to reach the upper engine parts than for the oil to return to the crankcase.  It will take a couple minutes for oil to run back down from places like the cylinder wall and the cam chain tunnel.
