Dangman...I'll make you the offer of a lifetime. Fly over. Ride my Savage chopper. I'm not sure my back is up to 4 or 5 hours of saddle time yet. I'm going on the run even if I end up in one of my vintage trucks.

All the scoot needs is a battery and front tire. Even the front brake is working again (let it sit for a few months, all the air bubbles worked their way to the MC, the caliper works better than it ever has). I'll even give it a bath. Shouldbe ridable sometime next week, I've got the tire, and just need to charge the battery.

The bike is neither licensed or insured... simple problems, simple solutions.

Is there any particular reason that the date for this ride was set for a Sunday?

Wouldn't Saturday be better?  I my case, we could ride even further and maybe spend the night before coming back home....or well, I guess that we could ride alone on Saturday, and still meet on Sunday, but there'll be less time for group riding that way before the Monday work day.

it's because i'm the track announcer at ephrata raceway park on saturday night.

i've made the same trip before as a day trip, and know how long it takes for the ride. my intention is to ride to yakima on sat morning check into motel, drive wifes car back to ephrata for work, then back to hotel in yakima. ready for the sunday morning ride.  i envisioned three meet points yakima, portland, and somewhere in the tacoma area. all converging on final meet point at same time from three different directions.  then the group photo with the mountain in back ground.  meet points take into account the 100 mile range of a tank of fuel. with fuel stops at morton from the west and packwood from the east.  from those spots it's a one tank ride from each and back.

i have put alot of thought into routes and timing to make it a day trip. it's about 320 mile round trip from moses lake.

finally, i've found that if you put it up for a group to decide which day and timing you get the type of questions you just raised. so as the organizer i picked the day, if you can make it that day great, if not well bummer dude.

i hope that answers your question.

it has to with  group dynamics. if you try to please everyone too much time is spent on "well i cant do it this day, how bout this day", then next thing you know everybody wants to do it the day it's best for them.
i was trying to be light hearted with the statement of "bummer dude"

And more like what I envision as a proper approach to the date selection...considering this with plenty of advance notice and time for planning....would be to consider what might be the best day for the majority of the those interested in making the ride.  After all, you have an obligation on June 11th which dictates that Sunday is best for you.  I myself have no obligation on either day, whereas PRH111 has only Friday and Saturday that weekend.

It seems that to offer a choice would also serve to maximize the number of riders to Mt. St. Helens, unless that is not the purpose of this ride.

I do.  Sluggo's a Cat.  He's making the run and has invited us to join.  If we can make it, fine.  If we can't, we can't.  A bit of a bummer as he would like to meet us, but that's life.

At least you guys can ride in the countryside.  I'm stuck in the middle of the five-county Greater Los Angeles area: 20,000,000+ people spread out means it is people people people for at least 100 miles in any direction 'cept west.

Hmm, eastern arm goes to Packwood, northern arm goes to Morton... Isn't the turn off for the molehill somewhere in between the two towns? St Helens is less than 10K feet tall, therefor, at best it is a foothill...

Meet you in Packwood. Skate Creek Road and US 12 junction.

actually, i believer it was the cats that quit having you as a owner.  Cheesy

i've found cats own people not the other way around.

heres the difference between cats and dogs.
at dinner time you bring your food to table and go back to get something else. you come back catch dog eating dinner, you shoo away, dog things darm i almost got his dinner. the cat when you shoo away thinks, darn they be eating my dinner.

all humans are to cats are  a. can opener.  b.  giant heated pillows.
