I agree, Much cleaner. It also follows the line of the rear tire better. Looks like you also got the seat a few inches further back as well. Every little bit helps  Grin

Hey sluggo, for the direct to frame mount, were the posts on the seat exactly the same distance apart as the holes in the frame or did you have to fabricate a bracket?

there was some slight fabrication done.
as luck would have it. i used the struts i removed from the fender as the support brackets on the seat.

the key to the whole deal has been the upper fender mounting holes. i'm using a hardend bolt to go through the holes that support both the bracket for the fender on bottom and the seat brackets on top. obviously the fender will bear no load, but that's a trade off i accept.

Not a bobber, but check out how arfing cool this looks.  There's a sidecar on the other side, but I'm tripping out over the way he popped on a spring seat, leaving on the pillion seat.  There's covers on the forks, painted belt guards, and a full front fender with an English number plate. Tool bags on the sides, and lowered handlebars and SHAZAAM! It's a Poor man's antique Brit bike.

ok  ok   ok   (in my best joe pesci).

i know you all are pretty tired of looking at ole thumper, but this time here's one without the springer seat, or light on fender.

the chrome signals are now dual element stop/brake.

Hey, Sluggo.  How come you got rid of the springs?  I thought that you liked them.

I was wondering that too.  I was thinking I'd like that sort of springer seat on mine.  Without the springs it seems like a monkey-butt generator... or at the very least a redefinition of the term hard-tail.

it was a form vs function decision. Roll Eyes
while i liked the ride with the springer seat, it never looked right. actually it doesnt ride as bad as one whould think.  i did a tank draining ride yesterday and it wasn't bad. it's like an earler poster said in the monkey butt thread. you adapt to the seat.

i can always go back to the springs if necessary.
