Modifying Handle bars
03/16/24 at 14:02:50

I am thinking about different risers, but can't even get started. I thought the inserts in the top of the bar clamps would pop out with a little knife edge but apparently not! What do I need to do? It's a 2013 if it matters.

Thanks.

yes, those plastic caps will pop out but some are obstinate and need a little more convincing.
if you don't plan on putting them back just cut them off and pull the stud out with a screw.

Okay, I finally managed to get the plugs out and moved on. A pair of (Dewalt) extra deep 15mm 1/2" drive sockets, along with a pair of 3/8" x 6" allen head cap screws and nylock nuts moved my bars ahead 2" and down 2". A good finger width clearance at the tank. I am a big guy and the extra room is nice.

10 mm x 150mm would have worked too, I think, but not easily available locally.
