Next we were looking for ideas on how to mount and give support to the  silencer without disturbing the lines of the bike, especially down the center.

Trying to make it look good and be functional. This is what we came up with as idea.

Creating bushings (or what the correct word would be  Huh ?)  to slide into the frame. Locking this with a small hex key.
The bushing is als supported by the rear of suspenstion plate frame mount so it cannot drop down.

Then the silencer will be welded to a bracket, on 2 spots per side to limit heat transfer.

The plates will be slotted into the bushings and welded in. The whole silencer assembly will be able to slot in and out of the frame for (dis)assembly.

Everything in stainless, it will be polished later.
Almost everything that is not frame is either stainless or aluminium and will be polished in the end.

Here is the start:

Drilled and tapped, hex in place.
Will have to add a little bit of material to the plates for proper support.

There is not that much distance between tire and silencer.
We measured the travel in the shocks and are almost 10mm short.
We can either add bump stops to the shocks or relocate the suspension mounts later if necessary. We will have to see how this ends up and what looks proper aswell.
But will probaly need a little more height at the rear.

Start on the brackets

Next on the list is strengthening the frame a bit and also creat a mount for the carb. This is the plan:

Oke, next steps, slow but steady:

Little bit of trial & error:

Because of the limited space, the bracket for the gas cable had to be remade from scratch, and yes it is now single cable.

After some thinking, and despite the previous conclusion  Shocked Lips Sealed
We decided to mount the silencer a bit higher up. With the clearence needed for the rear tire, but more so for the line of the bike and rear end, it was better to do this now.

We just added a section to the exhaust and put the brackets under an angle. Then centered everything and welded it up.

Next is another bracket to add strangt to the lengthened frame.
Want to make it removable for access, also want to polish this so it will be stainless as many other parts are.
Supports will be welded to the frame and the bracket will be bolted to these with M6.
The placement of the 'speedholes' is still under debate, this is just mocking things up. The plate is 5mm stainless.

Now to finish this, then weld the pressure valve into the intake plenum.
After this the belt rollers and tensioner will be next.
To be continued  Wink

a couple more pictures

The silencer assembly. It actually works really well, slides on and off the frame and exhaust without too much effort and it sits very secure.
