Help installing swing arm!!
07/03/21 at 08:07:36
So I wanted to get my frame powder coated so I popped everything out of the frame to have that done and I went ahead and bought new needle bearings from Babbitt’s. I pressed them in and it was way to tight to get the pivot spacers in so I tried pounding the new bearings out and I’m doing so completely destroyed them. Fine whatever I order some more as well as pivot spacers. But now I have the race for both bearings stuck in the frame (see pictures.) I’ve spent 2 days now battling this and am about to take the frame to a machine shop to get them out hopefully. Apart from that, what is the proper manner of putting all of this back together. The clear Manaus is very vague on the topic.

The only way I know to attack this would be to use a Dremel and a small grinding stone (like a chainsaw sharpening stone), and carefully cut 1 deep groove on opposite sides of the bearing race until it is paper thin.
Then get a punch or small chisel and drive on the edge to collapse the bearing race.
